I'm beginning to run out of good MVS games and CPS2 games in my arcade and I'm considering getting a PGM w/ a few games. For those of you that have it, how do you like it? I've played oriental legend and KOV before (emulator), but would really like to see this system in person. Also, which games should I get (granted I get one), and which should I avoid?

Thanks!

Well, most folks I have known who bought one got it for one of two games: Demon Front or DoDonPachi 2. I have not played DDP2, but NTSC-J has and he says it rawks. However, I have played Demon Front and its ass. For a game with a Metal Slug ripoff motif and "Demon" in the title, it is neither a tenth as good as any of the original Slug trilogy nor do you fight many demons--mostly fat villager guys. Martial Masters is what it is, an also-ran fighter that borrows a bit from SNK and Capcom equally. I can't say I disliked it, but why play it with everything else out there...

So basically no, save your money.

I like the system a lot.
I currently own Demon Front and I have Martial Masters coming my way :-)

I plan on buying Road of Sword and Spectral vs. Generation later this year too.

It's a cool little system. Aside from the 3 great games mentioned (Demon Front, Martial Masters, and Dodonpachi Bee Storm), I'd recommend The Gladiator (cool brawler) and Killing Blade. And Oriental Legend and the Knights of Valor games are pretty good too.

DDP2 and demon front are great games, the otheres are ok-ish at best imo tho i havent played them all...

pick one up if you find a bargain, otherwise there are better systems for your cash..

For some reason, the oddball arcade hardware really appeals to me. The games I'm most interested in are:

Gladiator
Killing Blade
Spectral VS Generation
DoDonPachi (Is this one vertical or horizontal??)
Demon Front (maybe....)
Martial Masters

Now being a Taiwanese system/ company, are the games in English on it? Also, anyone wanna trade some CPS2 stuff for an IGS setup???

Demon Front is a greatly misunderstood game by people on this forum, obviously because they think of it only as a Metal Slug clone, when in fact it, its not any more a clone than any other platform shooter. I think they mostly consider it a clone, because the artwork/graphics are on par with MS, but the game mechanics and scoring are completely different. If you play it like it was MS you will be disapointed. If you actually sit down and learn how to chain enemys (does anyone here care about playing for score in MS!?) and learn to unlock the secrets, you'll find its a deeper more enjoyable game.

DDP2 is nothing like DDP, so don't even expect it to be similar (even though the sprites are 90% the same). Think of it more like an omake or little extra that again has different mechanics and scoring. Its a nice diversion, and somewhat short game compared to DDP.

DDP2 is vertical, left-to-right TATE ONLY, there is no screen flip on PGM hardware

my DDP2 is all ingame in japanese altho the test menu is in english, demon front is in english.

DDP2 blows.

Martial Masters is great, as is Demon Front. I enjoyed Puzzle Star quite a bit. Gladiator is AWESOME. I haven't played Killing Blade. But Demon Front alone warrants me owning one.

What does Martial Masters play like?
I mean, which game does it 'control' like? SF2? SF3? Art of Fighting?

I'm getting the cartridge between friday and monday and I'm stooooooooooked crazy to play it!

SFA = slow-paced, strategic. I like it.
By the pictures and videos I've seen, the game looks very CPS3-ish.

I think I'm going to love it.

Mine's the chinese version, I hope it's not COMPLETELY in chinese ;-)

Its actually pretty decent. I liked the longhair Fabio-priest.

In retrospect, maybe an IGS mobo isn't such a bad purchase. Not sure what some peeps here see in Demon Front, tho.

Demon Front is nice... colorful and detailed graphics, nice sound effects and background tunes, great gameplay!

It's a refreshing "Metal Slug Clone". I'd even risk saying it's better than some Metal Slug games! We never get arcade-ish platformers nowadays, so it's one hell of a purchase if you're really into the genre.
