New Question:

I am wiring up a SUN psu to a 3 prong power cord. The SUN psu only has the black and white wires coming off of the back. I'd like to take advantage of the extra Earth. Where would be the best place to wire that?

screw on the PSU? Control panel?

It's a wood cab with a mainly hard plastic CP, but metal astro style CP's will screw in and out.

==========================================================
Well, I was wondering if I could tap into the wires coming off of the psu to the mobo and get the lines I need to power the gd-drive?

That wouldn't be a bad idea going from the PSU, just make sure you're getting the correct voltages. I would find out what voltages the GDRom takes, test your PSU for the correct lines and go from there.

I think the colors match up, as it's all red (+12v), white (Earth), purple (3.3v), and yellow (+5v).

Your missing a small cable for the GD-rom. For the pinout of the cable you can go to http://www.seuservice.com and download for example the cap vs snk 2 manual.

yeah, I have that on another cable, but didn't want to ruin it. I think I am going to try and tap it from the i/o cable, as it has them all and I am going to hack it anyways.

Those colors don't sound right to me...

Actually those are the colors and voltages that are on the SUN PSU, as well as what andygeezer said in his pinout of the non-jamma i/o board over on the Naomi boards. (well besides the purple, which is only on the psu) Also, after thinking it over, for now I can take it from a hacked jvs harness, as I only need 12v, 5v, and ground. I will check them first anyways :)
