Hey guys.I'm about to take the plunge on my first cab,but I'm a little confused.I'm going for Cave shmups mostly, but I also really really want a few Cps-2 hori games (Progear and AvP,specifically). So whats the best route for my plans?Astros look cool, but not sure how hard it is to rotate the monitor.

Also, will i need voltage converters or a device to switch from Cave shooters to Cps-2?There all jamma right?Thanx for the help guys.

I've been doing a lot of research lately, and I'm leaning toward an Astro City. From what I gather, they seem to be the Honda Civic of cabinets. Reliable and cheap. Plus you can put a wing on the back and call it fast.

BTW, where in Illinois are you?

Hey bro,I'm an hour south of Chitown,in the Bourbonais/Kankakee area.I work at a hospital in Chicago,so I'll be moving back to the city in the next month or two.

Wherever you're at,maybe we could hook up someday in the future.

Also,I wonder if we went in on an order to Matsu together, maybe we could lower the shipping a bit?just a thought.I'm going to email him tonight or tomorrow.

If you are only going for one cab, I'd have to say you should get one with a quick rotate feature on the monitor like a Taito Egret or Namco Exceleena. With an Astro city, rotating the monitor isn't exactly a walk in the park.

Exceleena isn't exactly all the 'easy' to rotate, since you'd still need to lift the weight of the monitor in order to rotate it.

You should get a Capcom mini-cute. They are perfect for a small room, and can be easily rotated within minutes.

I think you need something larger then that

29 inch at least other wise buy a cheap tv to play.

BIG sold me on the merits of the astrocities...Hard to go wrong with those. Price is right. Pretty easy to rotate. Monitor controls are easy to use. Plus they look sweet. Nice monitor as well.

I never heard of that, and I have a vertical new astro and a horizontal new astro. Changing the monitor to vertical should only be a one time job, it is heavy and quite some work. Egret II cabs have more easy rotatable screens.

dunno...it seems pretty easy if you lay the cab on its back before you lift and rotate the monitor. But yes, ya probably don't want to make it a habit. Best solution may be to have 2 cabs. 1 for verts and 1 for horis :)

Yes,thats the dream, but space and dough are limited.I was really hoping to have Progear and a Cave shooter or two on day one,but maybe I'll just wait on Progear.

I have heard that Egrets are nice for the rotating, but I really love the look of those Astro City cabs.Hmmm....

Thanx for the opinions guys.
