A bulk of the other MI 2 threads were wack.

So let's start over, since the game is released, we can stop speculating on what/who/how, it's the time for impressions.

Don't have the game yet, but I have a feeling it will be more playable than the first game, have LOTS to unlock and the bonus stages will not be as much fun as we would like, but still good.

Looking forward to all the crazy secret characters tho.

It's shipping now.

Secret char. easier to see them. The only cool char. is Mr. Karate and Classic Kyo. The other look fucking ugly. Especially Jivatma. SNK really needs to hire some skilled artist , Falcoon's designs are only going down hill.

Fio with her guns seems to be terribly misplaced, they should have given her an hand-to-hand-combat style.

Armor Ralf seems pretty unneccesary to me, but he reminds me of Bowser...

I got this game today and must say its pretty impressive.

I like how the combos link it feels more solid the MI Mania X

The graphics and backgrounds are also top notch as well as a cool interface and great sound. The opening video leaves something to be desired though.

Probally the most SOLID ORIGINAL game by Snk Playmore yet :)

Big ups to Falcoon!!!!!

Wow. It really looks like they went wild with this release. It's almost like it's turning more into the spirit of Neo Geo Battle Colleseum instead of just an attempt at a 3D KOF (the way KOF is treated now).

I was going to get this game, anyway; but it looks like I have more to look forward to, than I expected.

Played this last night; without being able to play against some people online, I have no idea if they have improved the engine and gotten rid of the problems with the ground abuse if you miss a roll, but against the CPU, it certainly seemed like they did. Love the new parry system; it's basically the same as The Last Blade's. You hit hard punch and light kick together (or just L2) to parry. That combined with the rolling and sidestepping gives you a lot of defensive options. Controls and combos feel tighter now; MI2 feels more 2D than the the original game did.

Went through the story mode twice and got Kim Kaphwan (he has one of Dongwan's moves now) and Richard Meier (looking much younger than he should!), as well as a few more outfits for Mai and Terry. It looks like Terry lost the MOTW look; his new alternate is actually based on Blue Mary's look from Real Bout Special/2; with the same style of boots, star emblem pants, and the 8-ball jacket. Looks pretty cool. Andy may not be in the game, but Mai of course mentions him all the time, and now she has his flaming kick SDM, too!

The game's visuals appear to have been completely redone. It looks a bit more cartoony now; some characters have exagerrated hand sizes (Ralf!) and such; the look of the game reminds me a bit of Kingdom Hearts for some reason. MI2 is no Tekken 5 or Soul Calibur 3 when it comes to graphics, but the game does look pretty nice overall. The stages I've seen so far are much more colorful and less static than the previous game's bland stages.

MI2 seems like an awesome title so far. I'm really enjoying it...can't wait to play some more after work today. :D

Any tips for the bonus missions? The last Metal Slug level is kicking my ass all over the place! I was only using B. Jenet; is there a certain character that's recommended? Can't even get past the second Todoh-driven steamroller level, either. Everytime he speeds up, I get pushed way back and into a landmine.

$60-$70 just to get a DVD with about 20 minutes worth of animation? Personally I wouldn't do that. :) If you want to import, do it because you want to play Maximum Impact 2.

I'm at work at the moment and can't check for sure, but I believe it's region 2.

The English dub and subs lead me to believe that SNK is going to include this with the U.S. version of the game, although the director/creator commentary track is Japanese-only without subs...

I used Ryo for both of those and they are tough. For the Metal Slug, I like to rush in with a combo while Dashing/running/rolling that Pink Laser. Remember the laser stays in place for a few seconds so if it's stuck in front of you, use a long range attack/super (for me a Haoshokohken) and just block its missiles/charges (it's jump however is unblockable, so try to move out of the way).

For the steamroller I constantly used Ryo's p,p,p, F+P, B+P (or whatever) with the occasional cancelled Haoh-sho-koh-ken (which pushes him back quite a bit) just make sure you start to crouch+block when you hear the alarm (and also in later levels with the barrells). For a lot of them I got them RIGHT at the buzzer (when the timer was at 00)

I'm, currently trying to do the Level 5 car level. I've ALMOST got it.

my lil bro played it a lil yesterday, from what ive seen it doesnt look too promising. also my lil bro thought it wasnt really a good game, i thought it was a shitty game. even if you would hate tekken, it still miles better than this game. sorry for being negative but its really not a good game, considering how the first one was its not something to be too surprised about, right?

What kind of asshole judges a game by his brother.

If I did that I would be playing Only Multi Player RPG's

Try a game before judging it. Experienced fighting players are going to love this game Its Fast And Responsive and looks good.

Well it's just not going to please everybody, and that's fine. This is a real SNK fan game with all the costumes and fanservice (and I don't mean just bounce type). It doesn't cater to the high level players.

Although I'd play this over Tekken anyday, I don't like "3D" gameplay in fighters.

I think i qualify as a EXPERT On fighting games

You still have yet to say you played it so must mean you have no opinion.

Its like saying Carmen Electra isn't a good FUCK when lord knows you sure as hell DON'T know about that.

It's okay, I guess. Nothing too special; each episode is only about five minutes long, so you really don't get too much out of it.

I like the Accede episode with Rock Howard, Billy Kane, Lien, and Terry Bogard.

I think you'd be pleasantly surprised by her Alt G (not pictured there). She gets her long hair back and she wears an all white gown (similar to that one official artwork floating around out there) but with the fur edges of the other variations with little angel wings on the back. It's how her original Alternate SHOULD have looked, IMO. Her H is the same only all black.

Of all 16 outfits that's my favorite one to use besides her default.

Oh and this one, unlike the others, has panty shots :kekeke:

I'm not the best one to say, but at the default level 3, I found the computer to be pretty smart with a good amount of parries ESPECIALLY Luise on Stage 6 (and they WILL parry your parries, Luise and I traded parries a good 3 or 4 times before she "won", so you really have to stay on your toes). But I also noticed a good usage of combos and sidesteps as well. I'd imagine cranked up a little you'd have a decent challenge at least.

Jivatma is NOT a standard SNK boss. No Infinite bar or anything. He's a completely normal character with a few cheap moves, but once figured out he's a piece of cake as long as you have a good character to play.

Although that's just Arcade mode, the real challenges are in the Mission modes.

Though take it with a grain of salt, I'm just a casual player with "Meh" skill (who usually doesn't go higher than 3 or 4 for fighters)

1: I'm basically talking about 20 year old Fighting Games. Someone in this thread said that the fighters in Karate Champ where all the same. As i started my post with "You can't blame a 20 year old game...", this wasn't too hard to combine. No one here was talking about 20-year-old games here in the first place. Then why was nobody bitching when it was mentioned? Because it was related to something someone said earlier. As was my post. So there's absolutely no need to bitch about it.

2: "only around 10" is a funny formulation...

Is there a translation to the challenge / mission requirements anywhere? I'd like to get started unlocking things but have no idea what I should be doing. I accidentally did the first few but that's no fun. :)

Alternatively, a completely unlocked save file would work too.

www.cyberfanatix.com or www.gamefaqs.com for a guide on the easy missions. Don't think there are any other FAQ's out for it atm.

I got the game Friday... and finished all 200 easy and hard missions by Saturday night. This is either an accomplishment or a cry for help, I'm not sure which. :loco: Anyway, use the gamefaqs FAQ for the easy missions, and if you get stuck too long on a hard mission, post up. I might need time to go back and re-play any given mission though... they are all running together in my head.

Even though the coin missions and parry missions can be a pain, I thought the hardest mission by far was land 3 Geese counters in a row vs Billy Kane without taking a hit. CPU opponents just aren't very... PREDICTABLE!!! ;)

About those combo videos that were posted from that japanese site, for being such huge filesizes, they're of low resolution and run length.

MI2 looks awesome, nuff said.

No probs - it's actually listed on gamefaqs under the US name of "King of Fighters 2006", which might be why you didn't find it. :)

This title reached No 11 in the JPN game sales chart for the week.

No firm figures yet, but it is safe to say it sold between 30,000 and 36,000 copies. Pretty good going all things considered.

That's no surprise as the first MI sold well in Japan as well, surprising many people, but also realizing mainstream fans were waiting for this, but then again KOF 2003 PS2 sold good as well..

So SNK, KOF does have some pull in Japan.

They should take profit of this and go all out on next 2D KOF.[/fanboywish]

My impressions so far:
I've played for about three hours and...

It's pretty easy, unless you put it on Maniac level, but then it's so hard it's discouraging.

The stages, the characters, and the overall presentation is really pretty. Leaps and bounds above MI:1. They changed the overall look to a more cartoony/anime feel and it fits the characters much better than trying to be realistic.

The parry button/move adds a whole new dynamic to the gameplay. Honestly, matches last longer and they are sooo much more fun than in the first one. With a good multiplayer you can really have some high-counter matches with intensity and speed. While the title doesn't have the complexity of VF series, or many other 3-D fighters, I think its speedy 2-D pace makes up for it and gives it character.

Being somewhat disappointed at MI, I am extremely pleased with this game. My only complaint is the story and boss character. If they wouldn't make them so goofy, the overall aesthetic of the game would go up, making it a gem. I know it's a dumb thing to care about, but it feels like this is a game that can be taken seriously but it doesn't take itself seriously. MI was a joke, and they knew it, but this game has a bit more to it.

Above all, Richard Meyer rapes yours whole family while you sleep, failing to wake you up. Remember Eddy Gordo in Tekken 3? He's WORSE.
HAHAHAHAHAHA.

Oh yeah, strangely enough the KOF Another Day DVD has a dubbed version with english voice acting that really isn't that bad. Strange.

Hope the dubbed version isn't the only one in the US release.

Kind of weird to bump a month old topic with that. No way you can make audio/video samples?

Oh and don't worry Cernex, both the DVD AND the Game will have Japanese/English options.
