LaserActive Trouble

I'm having trouble with my LaserActive Sega Module.

For some reason, the system wont play Genesis cartridges. It will run Sega CD games and Mega LD games without any trouble, but whenever I put a Genesis cratridge into it and power it on, all I get is a black screen with wavy green lines moving across it. It does that if I have any cartridge in it, even a RAM Cart for the Sega CD.

I've tried cleaning the cartridge slot, cleaning my games, reinserting the module, all to no avail. Any ideas?

Does a PCE module work?

Unfortunetly, I only have the Sega Module (The one that is giving me trouble).

But that does bring up another question; Will a Japanese PCE Module work on my US LaserActive?
