I honestly don't get thefascination with hoods that don't match the color of the car...

Very nice car, I'll be keeping an eye on it. Why are you selling it though, it looks to be pretty well hooked up?

It's usualy an indication that it's made of carbon fiber. Strong and light weight material. Lighter car equals faster and better handling car. Hoods weight a lot.

Otherwise, it's just a ricer making it appear they have a carbon fiber hood.

Yeah, it does make a difference. Also carbon fiber dispels heat better.
Nice car btw, what are you getting now?

Neat 240SX. I'm trying to find a good 93 hatchback and put in a SR20DET. But really nice car none the less.

Thank you for all of the complements. Carbon fiber and fiberglass hoods reduce the weight of the car and lower the center of gravity improving handling greatly. In simple terms, less weight up towards the top of the car translates to better cornering and steering response.

This car is just not practical for every day use. I had to go to the city today for job training and I couldn't drive it with all of the pot holes and such. I'm going to get the new Honda Fit when it comes out in the US.

I know it sounds funny but one of my passions is designing cars with high quality, limited supply, Japanese parts (which is exactly what this car is and why it's so unique). I already have the Fit planned out in my head, it will just take a few years ;)

but why not get one that matches the paint job? Or get the car painted to match, or something... to me, it just looks unfinished with a hood that's a completelly different color... it looks like someone dropped something on the old hood, damaged it, and the owner couldn't find one in the right color. Whether it's functional or not, isn't what concerns me, as I'm into keeping things as stock as possible unless it's things that actually make a practical difference to the feel of the car (such as changing out the speakers in my 87 volvo). I mean... I have a 73 el camino sitting in the driveway that I could put a shitload of money into, and make it pwn pretty much any rice rocket around, but it would be impractical as it already gets bad gas mileage, is already a fairly high theft car, wont see much useage except for the rare occasions for racing, and would cost WAY more than to just bring it back up to stock running order. But I'm getting off my original topic... I just don't see what's so appealing about having a hood that's the opposite color as the rest of the car (even if you can gain 30 lbs to compensate for the new material).

Nothing, it's purely the functionality of it. Additionally, carbon fiber is flexible and paint is heavy. That's all there is to it.

about the two tone style....it's actually pretty damn popular, or at least has been around here. I always see little suped up rides with black hoods. There's a difference between a hood that shines and a dull primer look. I think the hood looks slick. Nice ride for sure!! 18 bids already...so others must think so too.

Nice car but not a Silvia if there is no SR20DET and not RHD.

Also is the hood full carbon or an overlay?

Why are selling it dude?

Thank you. The hood is fully carbon. I'm selling it because it's not practical anymore. I can't drive in NYC because if it hits a pot hole it's all over. It's really a track car that I never took to the track. It will make someone very, very happy.

That's because no one will know you have the mod silly! LOL j/p.... But I bet you that's why 99% don't paint it. 99% of the people who do mods do it for looks and if you can't easily tell what they did what's the point. But Paint is heavy? Come on.... Don't tell me you sold your A/C too because that's heavy as well... and a spare tire, seats, interior....

The end price is a slap in the face IMO. Here in Hawaii you could have gotten at least 8 grand.

you're talking about a 16 year old nissan... they're not the most high-end cars (not saying that this one is a clunker), but cars are a very bad investment to make. It's a known fact.

You obviously do not know anything about the underground drift scene. People even pay up to $8,000 for a AE86 just because its a very balanced drift machine.

:chimp: Too many OPTION videos and Initial D? J/P!!

For the most part, modified cars don't really fetch that much. Back in "my day" if someone wanted to sell their heavily modified ride they'd have to find another enthusiast or put the car back to stock to sell to the general populace. Then sell the parts individually to get the most money in the end.

Best you can do with a non-stock ride is to find another tuner car guy with some money or a kid with parents with deep pockets.

HAHA! what a n00b! You keep thinking that ;).
yeah i'm the new guy here. i've been here six fucking years and i'm the noob. shut the fuck up faggot. i might not have liked PBC's 240, but to say that the 240SX is"just an old nissan" is totally fucking misguided and stupid. i'm sorry a car that starts a revolution both on and off the track as a lightweight rear drive sportster with the ability to gain huge power climbs on any engine you drop in it (ka24de, sr20det, and on down the nissan line) and a car that has made a name for itself as one of the quintessential drift cars, as well as an affordable tuner, and one of the standout import tuners still on the roads today (up there with the first VW bugs as far as import tuners go) and you call it "an old nissan" you're a fucking tool. i'm sure your car is fucking fast as balls, and really puts it on the ground huh? i bet your front wheel drive people carrying shit box is hell on wheels right? shut the fuck up and don't talk about shit you don't understand. you're what i like to call a road hazard, someone who gets in the way of the race.

move this shit to the warroom mods, it's headed there already!
