Astro Boy is great... except for the slowdown.

Unbelievably engaging storyline. I like the way they manage to tie in the crossovers from all of Osamu Tezuka's different titles into one coherent continuity, though Tezuka did that pretty darn well in his titles, often having Blackjack appearing in his other titles performing operations, or Shunsaku Ban sniffing out some conspiracy theory. The slowdown though, gah, literally intolerable in some spots, and why couldn't Hitmaker and Treasure use less colorful hit flashes, insisting upon colorful stars?

All in all a great title. Picked it up at Sears for $10.57 after sales tax.

I didn't notice the slowdown throughout the entire game; well, except for the very last part where Astro's flying, but that didn't bother me.
I think AB's nigh perfect.

:spock: How can you not notice the slowdown? It's especially evident on hard mode, and when there are large bosses on the screen. On the large man-made sun boss for example, as the sun becomes larger, the slowdown becomes greater. Look also at the train stage, between the moving train and the 5 enemies on screen all at once, every move you make has significant slowdown.

I dunno, it never bothered me at all if it was there, to be honest.
I'm thinking back to the train stage, still can't remember much slowdown.
Of course, I'm in the minority; when there's talk about AB I always hear complaints of slowdown. Then again, the game's in my personal top 10 :emb:

Seems like Treasure always has problems with slowdown because all their games have so much shit going on. I guess that's the price of pushing the system to its limits.
