I'm curious. I haven't even played my PSP in months but now there's a couple games I'd like to play but would need to upgrade. And while I know I can still play emulators on the PSP with the newer 2.5 install I don't really want to bother.

Which made me wonder, are people still using the PSP for emulation of other systems?

If so, what are you playing?

Definitely upgrade.

Even if now you don't think there are enough reasons for an upgrade, a few months down the road they'll certainly be.

The whole homebrew thing has run it's course, I think.

I got Daxter, Syphon Filter, and Mega Man today, and Daxter made me upgrade to 2.6 right off the bat.

Sony's out for blood at this point, it seems.

Where's my option...

"I don't use emus anymore but I still don't upgrade because of other reasons"

Basicaly ISO loading :emb: and other things, such as full res video playing. If I only wanted emus I'd have a GP2X. The only games I'd like to play and I can't right now are SFA3 and Gradius, but I don't think they are worth the upgrade. However I might do it for other games I'm really pumped for such as MGA2, Outrun and Capcom Classics (yes, I know it's an emu :kekeke: ). Anyway, the scene always advances and you never know when/if those games will be available for 1.5, like happened with a bunch of 2.0 games lately.

Never bothered with Emulators to be honest. Right now I'm just using it to watch DVD rips of old '80's TV shows. :P

But I've got to start Ys soon. :P

When I got Virtua Tennis (damn I still haven't finished that game...) I upgraded to 2.5 as I couldn't find how to upgrade on the UMD :emb: Didn't really care as I never ran anything other than SNES and the odd Genesis game or two. I don't miss them at all as I picked up GTA:LCS and Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max to keep me from getting bored.

I wanna play some Blaster Master on my PSP...

I just hate GTA games so damn much... Feels wrong to want to have possession of it.

There's a new AVI Player that can be used with fw 2.60 now...if and when you do decide to upgrade ;)

I bought two at launch, because my girlfriend wanted one. She lost interest in the PSP right away (like she does with most video games), so I upgrade her PSP to play the new releases and keep my PSP with the 1.5 firmware to run the emulators. If I had only one PSP I would have given up long ago.

That's the way to go right there.

I also have two PSPs.

Standard US launch model for the nitty gritty, and a JP Ceramic White 2.60 for new releases.

No offence, but I think it's pretty stupid to have 2 PSPs, one for homebrew and one for it's intended use.

I mean, it's a handheld and it's supposed to be carried around. What are you going to do, carry two of them everywhere you go?

If you're not really going to carry them around and you use your PSP mostly at home, then why not just play teh roms on your computer or, better yet, on the actual consoles?

The whole emulation thing on the PSP was just a novelty, but to each his own I guess.

I dont understand. You can still play roms. Use the damn GTA exploit. Works on 2.6. You are just going to have to buy the games now. Simple.

Ive bought 6 games this week alone. Although they were impulse purchases so Im not exactly happy with a few of them. Whatever.

I'll bring both with me when I travel. If I am going to the doctor or some place that I might have to wait I’ll just pick one.

In my geeky defense I didn't buy two just so I could play the romz on one. It just ended up working out that way.

It was really a tough decision for me to make, i love Coryoon and Star Parodia and the PSP is the only piece of handheld hardware to play PCE and PCE SCD games at full speed.

However, Gottlieb pinball challenge alone was well worth the upgrade for whoever was a fan of pinballs either in real or on computer (Epic, Psycho, Fantasies etc).

Now, i want Theatre of Magic, Medieval Madness and Addams Family in a collection, pleaaaaaaaaaaase :D
