I popped this in the DS a few days ago due to boredom. I'm not totally addicted to it, but I keep coming back for an hour or so a night.

I don't think it's the greatest game ever, but I like some of the added gameplay elements. The ledge hang is a nice little touch, but I'm still a bit dissapointed with the more linear gameplay. The two things I live for in metroid are sequence breaking and speed runs and both are a bit crippled in Fusion. Sequence breaking is almost non-existent and I'm trying to play through before I start experimenting. I can't say I'm hot over the bosses because some are ridiculously easy, some are a bit overpowered... (arachnus for one).

I won't say I was 100% wrong about it the first time, but it's certainly not a terrible game.

"not so bad" Are you kidding? The game is phenomenal! Its practically Metroid III in almost every sense.

Zero Mission was a little better IMO, but both are quality. I hear ya on the linearity thing, but what are ya gonna do with all these wussy gamers out there these days?

I need to go back and try to finish Prime 2 - I keep getting stuck in that game.

What a fucking n00b. :oh_no:

I'm a big fan of Fusion. I think it works very well as Metroid on-the-go, which is why I don't mind the linear aspect of it too much. I doubt this game would have worked so well as on a console, but I appreciate it for what it is.

And, DAMN. It looks so good on a micro. I've been able to see so many details that I couldn't detect on the old SP.

I played this recently on a DS, for the first time, and...

It's pretty good. There's just a... 'hand-holding' element to it that feels... wrong...

It's just not very 'Metroid-y' to be told where to go...

I thought some of Fusion's bosses were really hard. And I hated being told exactly where to go and what to do all the time.

I think Zero Mission is better for the most part.

Last year, I picked up a used copy of Zero Mission, which already had the Metroid 1 game unlocked. I thoroughly enjoyed playing both Metroid 1 and Zero Mission (loose remake) at the same time, and seeing the differences as I traversed similar parts in each level.

All 2D Metroids are good, I don't care how I look at them. Nintendo NEEDS to take a page from New SMB and create a new 2.5D Metroid on the Rev. For sure.

I've truly hated all iterations after Super, but I'm not totally hating this version. I'm never going to LOVE this game. It's a solid platformer but very unbalanced in difficulty. I despise the locks system and the items through bosses system. There's very little chance to sequence break or speed run with very efficent times or even skipping of parts.

I was annoyed with the pointing things out, and it seems Nintendo is putting this in every one of the new metroid games, probably because it makes things easier. Nothing is "clasically" hard anymore, which is difficulty for skill, not jsut for difficulty's sake.

I'm a gaming codger at this point, very little will make me happy.

I really enjoyed it for a while, then got stuck, and still haven't gone back and finished it. I am pretty bad at this sort of game. It was also my first Metroid of any description, so I didn't have a lot to compare it to.
