Hi, I just got a neo 29 cab off matsu. I'm totally new to this and I have a few questions. (My 4 slot is still in the mail and I haven't cleaned the cab yet so excuse the pictures.)

Why is there six buttons instead of 4?

Where is the select game button?

Where can I find new joysticks and buttons that are closest in style to the original?

Anybody got a wiring guide?

What are my marquee options? I was hoping to have the four seperate ones with the backlight.

There's a grey wire that's not connected right now and it says "4th button" anybody know what that's about? all six buttons look like they're connected.

For a wiring guide (not for the cabinet, but for your board) hit up www.hardmvs.com.

As for the "4th button" thing, that wire probably runs to the D button pin on the JAMMA harness. Your select button runs to the next pin on the 1P side of the harness.

Your best bet is either (a) get a neo-style CP for a candy cabinet (it's a standard size, IIRC) or (b) get a sheet of sheet metal and make a new one.

Either way isn't difficult, but it is time-consuming.

Because the control panel has been changed. It should look like this.

I see what you're saying about the control panel. I didn't realize it until now, no wonder it looks different! I'll hit up matsu and see what he says. Thanks for the hardmvs link as well, lots of good info! As for the marquee holder, I see I can either cut out the squares from the blank metal plate that's there, or replace the entire thing with the locking one. awesome.

IMHO, you already have the preferred CP. No need to drill more button holes for CPS2 fighting games. Your MVS game select button is button 5 on the Jamma harness. See where this wire goes and move the wire to another button if you want. You can even drill a 24mm hole in between the 2 start buttons if you want. Other than a little yellowing on the montior bezel, your cab looks great. Congrats and have fun w/ your cab.

Thanks for the info :) Yeah, the yellowing is a little bad but I think I'm gonna go over it with some white krylon fusion. As far as the buttons go, since this is a neo cab, I think I'd like to keep it dedicated to MVS so really the 6 buttons wouldn't be needed. Although I get what you're saying about it being ideal for fighters.

I'm trying to decide on a direct replacement for my p1 joystick and buttons. I'll probably order from Himura, Would it be ok to get the Seimitsu LS-32 and just swap the flat mounting plate with the stock "S" one? I also need to know the width of the buttons, I tried measuring it myself but I just can't tell. Does anybody know what size the P1 button is? Not that it needs replacing but I'm trying to match a color scheme. I still need to install a select game button as well and I'd like to have it the same size as the P1 & P2 buttons. I think I'm gonna use blanks to block out the 5th and 6th buttons so I can use the cab exclusively for MVS.

The joystick currently in your cab is the Semitsu LS-32. All you need to do is swap the sticks. If you add a flat mounting plate, it may make your joystick shaft stick up higher than it is now.

The buttons come in two sizes. For the 1P and 2P buttons you need 24mm buttons.
The Standard buttons are 30mm.
If you want to match the color scheme, you will need to get Seimitsu buttons. Sanwa buttons don't come multi-color. You can always paint the rim (trim) of the Sanwa button black. You can take the buttons apart, so it't possible to paint them.

Thanks for the info guys, I'm really enjoying working on this cab. I got this cab from matsu and I paid $500 for it. I never thought of looking on yahoo japan auctions! I'm gonna check that out. Thanks!

I have the same CAB!!!

rotated the Hitachi 29in monitor for vertical shmups...have a ps2 in there right now on a J-PAC and can toss the AVGA into my pc and throw it in there in 2 seconds with no problems...I HAVE YELLOWING ALSO! just on the monitor flip up like yours...I was scared to paint it cause i didnt want chipping...My CP sticker was torn so i removed it all togeether...I am thinking about prinitng a classic "red" with white lines NEOGEO style cp cover sticker...just like my big red MVS-2...

I luv the NEOcandy 29...I also only have the marquee like yours...I never got the 4 slot light up version...I have made a classic white\black MVS-Multi Video Sytem small marquee for the little 7x3 in light at the top...you can remove the neocandy logo from there and cut 2 pieces of plexi to sandwich a marquee between and then screw them in together...I think it looks cooler than the neocandy logo...

Also I replaced the Yen coin acceptor with a HAPPS USA quarter acceptor...10.00$ Cheap slips in in seconds!...

Congrats and welcome to the club!;)

Hi, I just got my 4 slot and it looks like they hard wired the select game button. I want to connect my game switch the proper way, from a control panel connector. I got a white 12 pin connector on the P1 side, a 6 pin connector in the middle and a Red 12 pin on the P2 side. Does anyone have a diagram or a wire code for these connectors so I don't have to trace each individual wire from the harness?

According to the diagrams, it looks like it should be connected to pin 26 "select up" on the main harness. Is that right? What's the "select down" pin d for?

My next question I'm actually embarrassed to ask but I'm new so bear with me. Everything that has a microswitch has to be grounded right? All buttons/joystick directions. Does it matter which side of the microswitch is ground? Also, as long as I locate the ground wires from the CP connectors, all switches are fair game right? Daisy chaining and all?

I appreciate any info you can give. I'd like to post pics when Everything is done, because I enjoy seeing other people's cabs as well.

Yes all buttons, joysticks, have to be grounded. According to your pic, the Red wire is Ground.
