I've been searching around for one of these. Does anybody have any good experience with these cabs? I am selling my buddy my New Astro City so I can get one of these instead. I just really dig the rotatable monitor feature.

Nice cab.

I used to have one a few years back.

The unit I had came with a Nanao monitor,so I was pretty happy with it.

My only gripe was the size...

From what I'm told Egret 1 has two problems.

1. Sucks for 2P
2. Angle of monitor is odd (compared to say Astro City and all the new Egret)

On issue 1, I've never had a problem with 2P, though it is a little tight. That said, when Player 2 is usually your wife, crowding isn't really a bad thing. Assuming you like your wife ;)

On issue 2, I agree that the angle is different; however, I actually find it more relaxing on the eyes and less in-your-face than other cabs.

I use to have 5 or 6 of them and they are good solid cabinets. Before anyone asks, I only have one left and that one isn't for sale. The only issue I had was the odd shape made it hard to load/unload on a truck unless you have two people. Normally I have no problems counter balancing a cabinet on the truck bed by myself. With the Erget, you pretty much have to dead lift it to get it on/off the truck.

I have a question to ask. Oh, nevermind. ;)

I really can't comment on the going price since these cabinets are pretty old. I bought mine over 5 years ago and paid $250 each for 10 of them. The guy end up only having 6 of them but he still honored the price. I think he was asking $399 at the time but again this was years ago. I would imagine you would have a hard time finding one in Japan or from a seller like Matsu (sp?) since there are lots of newer cabinets.

Also, location is a factor in pricing candy cabs (as far as I'm concerned). While you're likely to find them in California, they're very uncommon in the northeast. Over the past several years, I've seen three Egrets available for sale in the northeast - all from collectors who were parting with them. I scooped up two of the three, each at about $500 or so. There's definitely a premium up here for a nice candy cab of any kind because there are far less and shipping can be very costly.

Arcade Infinity was selling them at $350 a pop a few years back.

I believe Matsu sold them at around the same price when he had them in stock last year.

That was 2-3 years ago, you cant buy a decent Cab for $350 no mo. If you really want one put out an offer for $500. Im sure someone will sell it to you.

Agreed. I honestly expect to pay $400-500 for one when I find one. It's a fair price on that cab for sure.
