The screen flickers, what to do?
Seems like its static or something... hard to explain...

After playing for some time I realized that the cab keep adding credits by itself (!), no idea how it does that. Also when playing on 1P side, suddelny there's like someone pressing the 2P start button...

For the screen flicker, you need to adjust the monitor controls (under the control panel). Each PCB will have a slightly different sync.

Regarding the credit and P2 issues, it sounds like you have a short in your jamma harness or control panel. First make sure the jamma connecter is plugged in correctly to the PCB (the teeth may not be aligned propely with the edge connector).

Thanks Dave.

Figured out what's causing the flicker. Turns out the bulb on the top panel (behind the Astro sign) is half dead, I took it out and screen is clear now. :)

edit: Where can I get a new bulb? What's the type?

Don't throw away that bulb, as it may actually be the starter or transformer thats bad (located on the back the metal plate behind the bulb). But try finding a new bulb first (call around in your yellow pages). Should be a Sylvania DULUX S 9W Compact Fluorescent CF9DS/927.

Congrats on the New Astro dude, back on topic...
About the credit thing, check the "Service" switch that's on the powersupply, might be broken or something.
Check all the wiring that leads into the JAMMA harness for anything weird.

Take the light bulb into Lowe's or Home Depot. They probably have a replacement for it.

If the bulb isn't fairly black on one or both ends then replace the starter as well, they are cheap. The old one should turn slightly and then lift right out of the mount. Take it in to match it to the appropriate replacement one.

It's really black on one end and the other hand looks like it's falling apart, the silver part is coming off the bulb, so I think it's better to get a new one?

I have no idea what starter is, is it the 2 round white parts that attached to each end of the bulb, or is it the small white cap in the middle that can be unscrewed (FG-1E)?

I know home depot (or most other house and hardware store) has the starter, and if the bulb is the same as the neo 25 or neo candy, it's at home depot too. You could get two starters and the bulb for $10 or so.

PM'd pics about the button question....

Thanks NGT, you've been so helpful.

I'll try to visit Home Depot today, hopefully they have it in stock!:smirk:

Also, I'd check the coin counter and see if that's flipping over. If it is, then you've got a faulty coinswitch. Which is easier to fix than the service switch.

Good luck man!

No because there is nothing/no wires attached to the 4th (and 5th) button...

Ok, then your buttons are going to need ground, as well as the button signal. I might have everything you need. All depends on if these here are the right size. I could have them made by the time you get here. Let me know....

Basically what's in the picture I sent you, a mall connector for your ground, and some wire.

let me know...

You're my GOD!

Thanks man, now I can enjoy my stuff....

Next question, how the hell do you unscrew the monitor. Mine seems unaligned so I'm trying to take it off but the screw is so hard!

No problem! I drove out to my buddy's house that I missed and we are cool. Bought him a beer :)

I have better luck with an electric screw driver on tough crews. Just make sure to use a big bit, or it will strip your screw....and well, then you're screwed ;)
