From the Magicbox:

Microsoft will be revealing a new handheld system tomorrow, which tentatively called Origami, the Origami is capable to play music, download music and videos, play exclusive video games like Halo and handle other multimedia contents. It is uncertain whether this handheld is targeting the gaming market like DS and PSP, or the mobile market like Blackberry.

Yeah, I heard about this a couple of days ago.

If the 360 doesn't knock MS out of the gaming race, this sure will.

I don't see it as being a competition to anything really.

That thing is one small step down from just buying a 12" Laptop and claiming it to be a handheld.

Wow, the odd thing is that out of all the video, only one small clip had even a hint of a video game being played on that thing, and even then it was short. So basically this is another PSP but just freakin' huge. I would love to see you put that thing in your pocket. Well, as long as it's good for t3h romz.

Wow, this is came out of the blue. Looks hideous though. It looks like a fat brick; I don't see it competing directly with the PSP/DS in the handheld market. Can't wait till tomorrow though :multi_co:

MS stated that the device pictured is a year-old concept model...

If it can play Marathon and Halo (and possibly have some new original Bungie games) with full wireless online support, I'm sold.

Your sold on a brick MS portable system because of a mediocre FPS? Wow, they got you to cough up $300 pretty easy.

Be smart and spend that $300 on DS-Lite in NCSX...:kekeke:

Ill refer to it as the gigantic XP / 360 remote control from now on, because thats all it is.

Weird, I'm not sure what the target audience for a thing like that is. It can't be the iPod crowd, as that thing is far too huge for any sort of efficient portability. For the same reason, it can't be targeting the portable gaming crowd. It can't be targeting professional photographers and designers, as they will insist upon the more advanced tools (laptops) they already have.

This Origami device looks like it's going after the mobile market, in the footsteps of the N-Gage. And if the final version keeps that ghastly size, it will perish like the N-Gage too.

To me, the Marathon trilogy are the 3 best video games ever created (after 10 years, I still play them almost every day). Every game that Bungie has made so far, I have loved. You probably didn't even know Bungie existed prior to Halo's release.

And, once again, the device pictured is a year-old concept model. Also, I didn't see the retail price mentioned anywhere.

If it's got a portable version of Myth II, I might consider investing in this monstrosity. :D

Well your point would be true besides that whole loop hole of me owning a Mac and playing Marathon 1 and 2 and still not being impressed.......but you already had all your shit about me figured out already so I'm guessing I'm telling you things you already knew.

Back to the point. Hey if you dig just decent games, have at it man. This new MS system is nothing new nor great. It's just another attempt to cash in on the consumer. Have a blast with the "origami" while it lasts because it will soon be up on a dusty shelf with its' cousin the N-Gage and the Game.com.

Sadly, Myth and Oni were sold off to Rockstar/Take2 as part of the M$ buy-out, but that doesn't stop Bungie from creating an all new fantasy RTS game (in fact, they've had one in the planning stages for a few years now).

Did you buy Marathon 1 and 2 on or around release? What other FPS games were you comparing them to? Doom 2? Rise of the Triad? The only one of those two to even come remotely close to Marathon 1 is Triad. Maybe FPS games just aren't your thing? Different strokes...
