Hi,

Can anyone tell be how a dead memory card acts when used in a system. What I mean is, does it still work fully while plugged into the system but only looses data once unplugged? Or does the system not allow it to work at all? If so what errors happen?

I do not think that there is a vcc supply for the RAM inside the card. When I put together the "how to" on the battery replacement did a continuity test from the mobo to the 68 pins in the reader. From what I recall there was no 5 volts supply. So the installed card (with flat battery) will not store anything afaik.

The card was working with its original lithium, so I dont really know the symptoms.
If I can locate the card will try it with battery removed to confirm.

The intersting thing about this, in theory at least.
Is that the system will pass the test with a flat memory card battery.

So a failed test is more likely to be continuity issues between mobo and card or possilbly faulty ram within the card. Not the battery.

Do any other members here have a card to pull apart to confirm this ?
Im still looking for mine, lost in transit I think :oh_no:

I think this is what raz was asking to begin with, Im beating around the bush :smirk:

Yes thats what I'm asking. I want to be sure that there are no other symptoms apart from data being lost once a card is unplugged which has a flat battery.
