Sorry if this has been asked before -- I tried using the search, but it seems to be b0rked right now (keeps throwing an error).

I got a consolized MVS system recently (2-slot)and so far I haven't opened it up to inspect it, but I was wondering what battery type it uses to save high scores and settings and whether there is a danger of leakage. I've seem all too many Amiga 3000 and Amiga 4000 motherboards destroyed beyond hope of repair because of a leaky battery, so I'm hoping this isn't an issue with the MVS's battery. Anyone know?

Search is all screwed up for me too ... when I replaced my battery, a search for "mvs battery" turned up all sosrts of useful stuff.

Anyway, it's a 3.6V Ni-Cd and there is a very real risk of leakage. I replaced mine with a cordless phone battery from Radio Shack. I think it was this one.

The original battery has almost no capacity so I got the smallest one (capacity-wise) I could find locally and replaced its connectors with some 2-pin Molex ones, also from Radio Shack. The whole process took about a half hour.
