I for one don't hate it. I love my DS and I gave the PSP a try before but ended up selling it. I have a laptop for my roms and vids and I have an mp3 player. I wanted to play the games and was really let down by it. Also by how fragile it is. I will give it another chance one of these days.

The same complaints people have with the PSP are the same that others have with the DS. The lineup of games just isn't what they want. I wouldn't say it's hate just a different taste in gaming.

Even though I don't have one, I would say that the DS is a better handheld as far as games and variety go, but seriously, a lot of people give the PSP way too much shit for no real reason. It's a good handheld, I can listen to music while I'm in the subway, I can play SFA3 when I'm at work and when things are slow over there, we can all just sit around and watch Family Guy.

There's a lot of bias too.

Hey, don't get my post in the other thread wrong, I love the PSP.

The unit is gorgeous. The screen is lovely and when a game really does get good (RR) it really is good.

Problem is that having a PSP is like getting all dressed up with nowhere to go. I keep picking it up, looking at it and not being arsed to put any of the games I got into the slot.

I usually use it for wireless surfing!

Now if we could have KOF95-03 on a UMD...that would be a little interesting.

Oh, and I don't mind PS2 rehashes. I hardly have time to play on a home-based console. Much easier for me to bring my games along with me.

I agree with this. I love the DS but god knows it has rehashes and it will in the future as well. Both systems will. It's really futile to argue. PSP is a great multifunction system but I think the DS has an advantage in pure gaming. I think there is only a select few who are incredibly biased so it doesn't ruin the threads too badly.

I love both my handhelds, I just tend to have my psp with me more since it's now like my own ipod when I'm at school or something. Both have some rehashes I like as well as original games but in the end they still get equal time with me.

I don't see how you guys can use the PSP as an MP3 player. If you carry the thing around at all, you need a case for it or you'll scratch the screen. That's what I like about iPods and other MP3 players. You can carry it in your pocket with no worries.

It worked great when I attempted it. Got tired of having it in my pocket though. I can't fill up my 1GB stick and I have a 512MB small player so I just use it primarily.

I bought a case for it as soon as I got my psp due to me not wanting to break it buy dropping it or etc., and seeing as how I use the train for most of the day it really comes in handy for me.

Don't have anything against the PSP. Like some have you addressed, the screen is amazing, sound is unbelieveable and it's great for some other features. I'm just waiting for some good games that I can't play on my PStwo.

Same situation with the DS back November 2004. I waited almost a year and a half to finally get into it.

Now, it's having a monster year(last year too) with all the great games coming out for it.

I don't 'hate' the PSP per se, but I'm certainly disappointed in it. Yes it has some nice multimedia functions, but if it doesn't have any good games for it then I don't give a shit. 95% of all the games for it are nothing but straight ports, and the other 5% are dull and uninspired (The Con, anyone?).

I realize that Nintendo does this too, but at least they've been remixing and improving games, most of which were fun in the first place.

I'll say the same thing about the PSP as when it launched: it has a lot of potential. But if all Sony's going to do is make movies and ports for it then it's about as valuable to me as a Game.com, Virtual Boy or an N-Gage.:oh_no:

I had to be awake from 12-6am this morning, and instead of coffee I had a 6 hour Ridge Racer marathon. I also bought Burnout Legends and Megaman X (remake) recently, very fun titles. I also have Kingdom of Paradise, mixed opinions on it.

If you want to blame someone for the "PSP hate", blame Sony.

They hailed the PSP as the second coming, and it just hasn't been able to deliver. Worse yet, the DS was looked upon with great skepticism, and actually turned out to be a pretty good system.

This is what happens when something is overhyped.

Well, Nintendo has much more experience in the handheld market. So, they know what people want. Sony, on the other hand:shame: .
