Absolutely gorgeous system. It is really small and very light and that makes the screens look so much bigger. The screen itself is gorgeous, really bright, really sharp and very clear. I played mario kart on it and it definately looked nicer than on the regular ds. The D pad on the system is great too, would work perfectly for fighting games. The buttons are still the same size. Overall I was very very impressed.

Are the buttons more like SNES where you have to actually push them, or more like the SP and DS where its just a shallow click?

How are the L and R buttons? Someone said that they are strange to use.

The buttons on the face and the shoulder feel basically the same as on the regular DS. They seem to just have changed the D pad and it's been improved.

The D pad looks a lot like the D pad from the GBA Micro. Do you know if they are the same?

I haven't played the Micro as of yet so I couldn't tell you but the D Pad sticks up more making it a lot easier to use. I'm sure with the success of the micro its the same. I played it at a tsutaya so check it out if you get a chance.

I can't wait to try the new DS. I was amazed at how crisp GBA games looked on the micro, and I'm assuming this will do the same sort of thing for DS games.

a question sir.
what is the material of the ds,
is it a candy plastic shell like the ipods and similar to the ceramic shell of the psp,
or is it just dull plastic like the original ds?

I wonder if I break my DS if Best Buy will give me a DS Lite instead. (bought the service plan)

doubt it....they are 2 completely different things...with 2 different SKU's. It would be like exchanging your broke TV for a computer as far as the "system" is concerned. I would imagine...

Jeez, I was afraid it would be too small. That comparison pic is rediculous, I think the OG is the perfect size and doesn't cramp my hands. That looks a bit to tight and im sure those are Japanese hands that look to be cramped in that shot.

The finish on the system is glossy. It looked really nice. Unfortunately they only had the white on available to try so I haven't seen any of the colors. The system does seem small but it felt really good in the hands.

I'm so glad to hear someone has experienced what the DS Lites are all about. Isn't the screen just awesome? Level 4 brightness is INSANELY bright! I swear, you will see colors you never thought that were there with these Lites. Everytime I see someone using one at work, i just want to snatch it from their grasps. Just have to wait one more week to get my own(I hate waiting).

Anyway, the new D-pad is definately going to kick some serious ass with fighting games. Both for GBA & DS. Can't wait to use it on Bleach DS(should make the super moves come out a lot easier). I also think this will be the same D-pad they will be using for the Revolution remote controller. Again, I only wish they worked on the L & R triggers a little more. They really need to be raised just a bit. It just isn't as precise as the old model. Oh well, guess i can get use to it overtime.

People at work don't know when these will hit stateside yet. We should be hearing something soon if not E3 in May.

no matter how small or sexy it looks, the fact is that even the original ds feels cramped to me, and so just the thought of it getting even smaller makes my hands ache. I want to play my ds...not look at how small and sexy it is. It'd end up being just like that time I dated the virgin swimsuit model who was 'saving herself for marriage'...pft.

and I wouldn't say I have freakishly large hands either, probably average for a 6'1, 220lb guy.

I have very big hands, but actually find the GBA Micro more comfortable to use than the current DS.
