I honestly don't think that there are enough PSP games to fill a true Top 10 list, i.e. games that are really great.

Not yet anyway.

That being said, my favorite games are:

Wipeout Pure
Lumines
SFA3 (I like Darkstalkers more, but SFA3 seems more "complete")
Maverick Hunter X

More PSP hate.

Since there aren't any PSP games out right now besides Lumines that are worth a shit, let's get into a time machine and pretend we're making this top ten list, oh say - 6 months into the future.

Lumines
Loco Roco
Power Stone Collection
Suikoden collection
Valkrie Profile sequel
Me & MY Katamari
Ultimate GnG

Oh, look at that, we're half way to 2007 and we STILL can't find enough good PSP games to fill both hands worth of fingers. And 5 of those games are STILL shovelware.

Franckly, after all this time elapsed since its release, I still can't see a game on PSP that appeals me.

Sad.

Truth be known, I'm cautiously optimistic about the PSPs future game line up.. After all, the DS really didn't start getting the great games (or any games for that matter), until at least a year after launch.

20???

BLEH. Here are mine:

1. RR
2. Lumines
3. Wipeout Pure
4. GTA:LCS
5. RR (US version-trying to fill space here)
6. Lumines (US version-ditto)
7. Spot the dust under the screen.
8. Make the square button work at least 50% of the time.
9. Make the Memory stick plastic door stay firmly in place.
10.Uuuuhhhhh....Hotshots Golf

The above applies until I buy Gradius Portable, afterwhich the machine will do no wrong.

The sequel is a PS2 exclusive at this point, the PSP game is just a port of the original VP.

But yeah, I could populate that list with more titles some six months from now.

Xplay didn't seem to like it, but then again, they're not always on target.

Is it any good?

Haven't played it, but I've heard it's decent. Supposedly pretty short for an RPG (20 hours? Around there, what I heard), but then again it's on a handheld, so it sounds fine to me.
It looks like some old-school RPG fun to me, I wouldn't mind checking it out. I just remember a lot of hype for the game, and then when it came out, it seemed like no one cared.

And fuck X-Play, I take everything they say with or without a few bottles of salt. They lost all credibility years ago.

These threads always crack me up. No good games on the PSP? Huh?

I like good software on every platform. I seriously don't get all these outpourings of irrational hate for the PSP.

BIG dropped a great list, and I'd just add Winning Eleven 9, Soukyuu no Fafner, the Legend of Heroes games, and the list keeps going.

I think most of the "hate" stems from the fact that the PSP falls way short of people's expectations. It's pretty but hasn't delivered that must-have gaming experience.

And looking at BIG's list I have to :kekeke: at Twisted Metal. What boring, poor controlling slop that is. And Hot Shots Golf is pretty but lacks that "fun" aspect that games like Neo Turf Masters possess. And the fact that you need to modify your PSP to make Darkstalkers playable annoys me.

But I think there are some good games for sure. RR and Lumines of course and I'd love to grab Katamari, Burnout, Gradius, and Star Soldier as well. But I'm holding out for something special, like a true RPG of the Final Fantasy or Skies of Arcadia. That will rock my world bitches. I love RPGs but don't usually have the time to sit down in front of the TV and play for 4 hours straight. Portable RPG'n is the way to go.

I think Lumines and Wipeout Pure are must have gaming experiences, but that's pretty much it really.

That's why I didn't populate that list, because, even though there are many good games on the PSP, there isn't a lot that's really sensational.

Both systems are still babies though, I don't know why people are expecting ridiculously huge, complex and varied libraries at this point.

The DS is close to that, but not quite there yet IMO.
