Well, I decided to do the dpad mod on my psp,and lo and behold,I fuck something up. I finished with the mod no problem, and decided to clean the dust off of the inside of my psp screen. No problem. I boot it up to try out Vampire cronicles...and I get:

Picture008.jpg

A giant fucking black spot. I'm guessing I killed some pixels? I used a lens cleaner, and I diddn't press hard at all. This pisses me off beyone belief, I really hate myself for this. Wtf could I have done? Maybe it'll fade? Fuck.....

Holy shit! I've never seen anything like that. I guess you should have just bought a japanese Street Fighter Alpha 3 with the D-pad adaptor...

I know your screen sustained some damage, but in the end how did the D-pad mod work out?

Hey-
I have a theory to your problem. How do you feel about taking your PSP apart again? And as soon as possible!

1.) That black spot you see... I'm willing to bet that there is a tiny foreign object pressing against the back plate of the LCD screen itself. I work with LCD panels. Say if you were to poke your fingernail against the semi-soft backside of a LCD panel, you will get a distortion that looks much like what you are showing us. I'd rip that PSP apart ASAP and check around for loose debris. I say ASAP b/c the longer you let that foreign object press against the LCD, the more "permanent" this mark may become.

2.) Is that white line going across the screen part of the game or is it stuck like that? If the latter, that may not be so good. Then again, the ribbon data cable that attaches to the vertical axis of the screen could be loose or cracked. Check on that too.

Hope things work out for ya. Let me/us know.

That's just the PSP menu I believe, but that's a very sound theory you have there regarding that black spot.

I was also having trouble with a particular screw that seemed to go a little deeper than it should, but nothing like that ever happened to me.

Good luck with that.

Did you have a pbobem with the screws? They're so fucking small, and I fogtot the order(by color) of where they went. I know the big screw in a small hole woulf probably fuck something up.

As far as I know, the only screw that's different is the one that goes underneath the system, the shorter silver one.

But yeah, the top right screw gave me some issues. I think it went deeper than it should've, but I haven't run into any problems or anything while playing so I guess it wasn't that big a deal.

You only need to remove five screws, you know?

I got a question for you, I heard from some dude (at Game Express) that if you upgrade your PSP to 2.00 and above you can open the PSP and hit a reset button inside the unit so you can get the system back to 1.50 version like I had mine back in the day, is this true or does the guy I've talked too is full of shit.

I really, really doubt that to be true.

If it were that simple, the whole homebrew community wouldn't be such making a big fuss about newer firmwares.

I'd say definitely bullshit.
