A friend of mine and I went to this auction today. It was the single weirdest auction I've ever been to. It was at some kind of classic car show so the crowds outside of the auction hall were very large. I expected this to mean that there would be a lot of bidders for the games. There was at first but the crowds soon thinned out and then the games started going for insanely low prices. I mean sick prices.

Some highlights (from what I remember):

Rastan - working (slightly washed out monitor) - $2
Ms. Pacman, MK II, and a crane game - $1 (for the three of them)
Ikari Warriors - very nice, with as near as I could tell perfectly working rotary joysticks - $1 (with three other games one of wich was a very nice Altered Beast cab)
Rygar - working - $1
Neo 4 slot (dedicated, had memory card slot/headphone jacks/led indicators) - $100 with four games (SamSho I,II,III and Robo Army)
Final Lap 2 - two seater with two washed out monitors - $2
Golden Tee 2K - $25 (these usually go for hundreds of dollars if not thousands for the newer ones)
Asteroids Deluxe - $25
Final Fight - don't know if it was working or not - $10

Many, many games went for free or cheap. The auctioneer at one point actually PAID someone $25 to take some slot and redemption machines away.

Now for the sob story -> I had money enough for anything that i wanted here (being as it all went for so cheap) but didn't have the necessary transportation for any cabs. I went hoping to pick up some loose arcade boards if there were any but unfortunately there were none. At the end of the day my friend and I were kicking ourselves.

I would of bought as much as I could, ripped the boards and everything I could out of the cabs, loaded my car up and left the shells of the cabinets there. At those cheap prices, I wouldnt of hesitated.

That's some crazy prices.

I'm in Jacksonville. Where the hell is Bushnell? Sounds woodsy.

Woodsy is a very good way to describe it. Out in the middle of nowhere is another good one. My friend couldn't even get the directions to appear on Mapquest. Forget cell phone service.

Keeping in mind that if you purchase a cab that you HAVE to take it with you. The whole thing. That's why so many great games were so cheap, they were bundling large broken cabs that nobody wanted with top quality games to force people to take them away. You see the auctioneers merely rent the hall that they are in, so they must have everything gone by the end of the day.

Another one I remember was a non working dedicated 4slot Neo with 4 games -> $25. It was pure insanity at this auction like I've never seen before. I don't think that they'll be back there next year, with the poor results they had this year.

There is another one of these in Orlando next month (two weeks really) and I expect to see many of the same cabs from this auction there. They have bidders that do this for a living, they follow these auctions around picking up many things cheap at these smaller auctions and resale them at the larger auctions like in Orlando or Atlanta for serious profit. Bidder #106 made out like a bandit at this auction.

who would of cared if you left the emptey cabs in the parking lot or buy the road. Ya the auctioneer said they had to go but once you own it you can do what the fuck you want with it, its yours.

What kinda shape was that Ms Pac in that went with the MK2 and crane game? Any parts in it? I went to auction in Kalamazoo, MI that had stuff going for cheap, but a lot of it was junk. I got a Out Run mini for 15 though. :buttrock:

I believe the Ms. Packman was in working order, MK 2 not sure, crane game still had stuffed animals in it don't know if it was operational or not (probably not if you want my guess).

I'm used to seeing a lot of junk at these auctions, but there was a ton of quality games that I would have loved to take home this time.
