Is this a Pal or NTSC unit? Also, what type of mod is in it? Is it the type that goes in the expansion slot where the ram cart goes or is it the type you solder in? I may be interested in it and I have all of the MVS games you're looking for.

PS I've got a Shock Troopers 2 Kit on ebay here .

You don't even need an action replay, you can do a swap trick. You've got to do it at the right time. Its a little tricky at first, but once you get used to it, its a snap.

Not too good for the Saturn in the long run though. I'd say the way to go is one of those Model-2 Saturns with the 2-wire chip.

The chip that is using is teh following...http://www.jandaman.com/games.mvc?p=satmod&Category_code=SAT

Yep. Swap tricking's bad for Saturn, but it's like this: If you want to install a Saturn modboard, you're going to want to get a round button model 2 system. If you're looking to just swap trick (not recommended), then the model 1 systems have blinking data LEDs which help with timing. Personally, my main Saturn's a U.S. model 2 w/ region switch, modboard, s-video out. ;)

I can do it for you Shawn, but it would depend on your saturn - there are some model two versions (rounded buttons, no 'access' light) that have a certain chip on the motherboard that can cause problems.

If you can - have someone open up your saturn and get me a picture of the machine with the top part of it off - i will be able to tell for sure if it is easily moddable.

I won't even charge you anything, you just need to pay for shipping both ways and the chip.

As for the english patches - no there are no english language patches, but there is a program that will allow you to change the region coding of a Saturn game (before it is burned to CD of course) so a JPN version of game X will run on a non region-modded US Saturn. BTW - modchips that allow backups on saturns DO NOT allow different regions of games to be played. That's a seperate mod all together that I don't know how to do.

My US Saturn has an oval shaped power buttion and it is a 2nd model. So the modchips don't allow different region burned backup games to be played on a US Saturn system?. I need to think about having my Saturn modded. What kind of modchips allow all region burned backup games to be played?.

As far as mods go: Saturn requires two separate mods. One mod for region (unless you patch all of your games to your own region, in which case you need no region mod), and the other mod (modboard) is for backups. If you're looking to play backups, it'll make your life much easier to acquire a model 2 system. (21 pin ribbon cable from the CD ROM)

It seems you have the older version.I happen to have one(my own)I moded the chip itself ,cut a pin off and it works like a charm on my saturn. It's a pain in the ass to do,But it works perfectly and It looks better than the round button saturn. Also if your interested I can do the switch on it.Just choose between the region that you want and thats it.

I do have a 4 in 1 cart convertor to play US, Japan and PAL games on my US Sega Saturn system. I heard that you need it to play Capcom and SNK games.

If a burned backup US, Japan or PAL game is played while the 4 in 1 is inserted will the games still work if the system is modded or do I need a region switch installed. I will see if I can have a pic take of my Saturn.

It will still work but the 4 in 1 carts have been known to blow the cart slot on the saturn.

If you get it modded just use SatConv.exe to change the region coding on the ISO before you burn it so you won't need a cart.

As for Capcom and SNK games - get a 4 meg cart and a 1 meg cart seperately. If you use a 4 meg cart for SNK games (or the 4 in 1) there can sometimes be graphical glitches.

So I should get a modchip and have my Saturn modded with a region switch to play US, Japan and PAL games. I will get a 1 meg cart and a 4 meg cart seperately.

Can someone burn me Saturn games and change the region coding and I will pay for the shipping fee?. ;)

Dont' know about that theory.I have been dealing with Saturn's for quite some time.In fact I still have the very first saturn that came out in which I payed 450 dollars.I've been playing imports for a long time and never had the cartridge slot blown. As a matter of fact, the only way in my experience to blow the cartridge slot..it be constantly changing the ram cartridge for..example..Remember the old swap method with the game shark???..Also,Say you want to play an Snk game and then a capcom. Why change cartridges if you have a 4 in 1.There is no need unless is KoF 95 which has it's own.
Personally, just get the saturn moded to play back ups.And a 4 in 1.That's it.If you want it even better ,get the switch also.

My mom's boyfriend just opened up my Sega Saturn system and it is a 21 PIN Sega Saturn and the buttions are oval shaped. I need a region switch installed too. Who should I send it to and how much to ship my US Sega Saturn system out, mod switch installed, installing the modchip and return shipping fee?. ;)

Here is the link for the modchip that I will be buying real soon, ;)

21 pin Saturns can be modded but sometimes they don't take the mod man. You're better off finding a regular Round button (model 2) Saturn on ebay for $20 and modding that.
