Count me in on the questions too.

Not a whole lot of talk about it... I had the original one and played with some of the emulators and stuff.

Yes, yes yes, and no.

Yes, the emulators are free, readily available, and full speed includes Neo Geo MVS, Sega Genesis, Game Boy Color, and most Mame. Getting oh so close is PSX (w/sound), NES, SNES, and PC Engine (with ISO support)

Yes, the multimedia functions are amazing. Still waiting for a few more options in the MP3 player, such as individual repeat.

Yes, there are some homebrew games available, and some good ones, including Noiz2a (shump) and a few good ports, Jazz Jackrabbit, Clone Keen, and interpreters for Flashback, and those other slow intriguing games. Dragons Lair is also on its way!

No, if your a retard.

you wont see any games like burnout for the gp2x.

but there's no question that it's the best emu and homebrew friendly handheld on the planet.

I can't think of a better handheld for a neofanatic other than the ngpc.

It had a rough start with many bugs and other issues, but it seems to mostly be solved now.

afaik, mvs emulation isn't 100% yet, but many games are. check out the wiki for more info http://wiki.gp2x.org (may be outdated)

one problem that some of you might notice apon playing one, is that the digital thumbstick isn't very good (compared to the ngpc). There's a replacement top that fixes this and is widely reccomended. Yet most find the original thumbstick to be fine.

welcome to a new handheld that was BUILT for emulation and homebrew people. Enjoy the ongoing output of the hottest emu scene ever, and never have to worry about a certain company named sony trying to end everyone's fun.

I just got one, and I plan to get some homebrew stuff on it. I'm kind of curious as to whether I need to jump through any hoops to get the SDL libraries working on there.

Use Utility and run install_libs.gpu, you can delete it after.

They have it for 164.95€ in a local shop here, I'd like to buy it but I would also have to spend at least 50€ more for a SD card... And now I'm playing quite a lot my DS and I think I'll be using my PSP more soon, so I can't justify yet another handheld...

I tried it once and the only thing I didn't like is the thumbstick, it suuckkkssss big time.

If you want to hack something, the PSP will be more of a challenge than an open-source device... ;)

Does this thing come with any internal memory to put files on or do you really need to buy an expensive SD card to even do anything?

Nope, you have to buy an SD card seperately.

You'll also need to buy an AC adaptor, since firmware flashing calls for it.

uh, I want to 'hack on' an open source device and tweak / hack it , not a closed off psp
