ok, i now officially have a new scanner (well, it was a surplus, but it's"new" for me!),

to start of, here's some sketches i did just to test my "new" scanner's capability to capture pencil lines...

so far, im not that impressed, but after i get used to the settings, i might be able to produce better results..

I like it, much better than the stuff you did digitally.

You've got some nice line weight in places, specially in the first one. My only complaint is that it's not really Iori, more like some dude that looks like him. When drawing someone else's characters, it's a good idea to look at how that particular character behaves or reacts and keep those things in mind to make the drawing more faithful to that character. As nice as those drawings are, Iori would never have those expressions and that kinda pulls you back from the drawing a bit.

Nice job though.

very true.

but, i dunno, i think i was jsut trying to avoid the "usual" Iori, i mean, yes, i changed the clothes, added goggles, but i also wanted to see what if Iori is pouty? or SMiling normally? i mean, he must have been sane at one point in his life... besides, Iori's been drawn the same "way" voer and aover again, i personally think what i did was refreshing...

dont' worry, i get your point...

Awesome weights. I'm really impressed. Your line control is really spectacular.

As far as the character goes, I like it. I wouldn't worry too much about trying to mimic the style of the original artist. I like the way you draw SNK characters, you give them another facet. Go with it I say.

I see what you mean.

It's true that it's very difficult to find Iori artwork where he doesn't have the same expression, but still, some characters lend themselves to express a wider variety of emotions than others. It's hard to draw people like K' or Iori with expressions other than what they always have and still have them look like themselves. It's like Terry or Ken, you could draw them extremely pissed off and angry and screaming, but that'd be a little out of character for their cocky, joyful attitudes.

Maybe it's just me.

Looking forward to more stuff.

ehhe, i dont plan on coloring this cuz makin' it into clean lineart would take a while... i'd rather draw another one :P

gunstarstudy.jpg

i regret drawing this on my notebook. well, duh it looks ugly, cuz it creased like hell (hehe, that's how "hard" i draw) and the ntbk lines, but the drawing itself turned out pretty good imo, that's why i wanted to share it wit ya guys, i tried doing a "trippy" Gunstar Heroes,.. this is actually just a study for a "fanart one page comic thingy" im planning for my portfolio for school... im just testing the waters on how they should look like, and im going with this. :) so, whadaya think on the design?

peace
