Yes, one of these old things! :lolz:

Virtually indestructible :mr_t:

I happened to acquire several BBC's (a Model B and a Master 128) plus a CUB monitor when my local school dumped them all in favour of PC's... now it's just been sitting around taking up space, so I'm thinking about setting up a corner of my den with it to hook my supergun up to, along with some other devices I can get to output RGB (CPC464, an A1200 plus a megadrive and a few others consoles) - that I've been unabel to use as I don't have enough scart blocks to connect them all to my main tv.

I'm trying to find out the pinout of this thing.. I presume it's a standard low resolution RGB screen.. and I wonder if I can just hook up a butchered multi-scart block to a 6 pin DIN plug and get a host of machines working through it?

If you're from outside europe then you probably won't have a clue about most of what I've just said :multi_co:

Ok more info..

These things are ttl RGB as standard; meaning you only get 8 possible colours as the signal on each line can only be on or off... however, they can be converted to analogue RGB quite easily.

It took a bit of searching but I found the docs that tell you which jumpers to set on the pcb. The site this was originally hosted on is long gone, but thanks to archive.org I've now got it on my site:

..more to come!

Well, at least I can say the monitor still works! ...

Jumpered the monitor into analogue RGB+sync mode and wired up what I believed to be the R,G,B,Sync and Video Ground lines to my supergun (open, with it's guts hanging out on the far right!)... at least it confirms I'm on the right path.. I'll need to check the wiring, but I tapped straight off my scart socket on the 'gun so I'm not sure why it's green... oh well... more investigation later!

I'll also need to play around with the internal vertical and horizontal settings as it's obviously squashed right now.

Still, not a bad picture for a monitor I probably used at that school when I was a kid there, more than 20 years ago :buttrock:

Indeed!

My favourite was the Galaga clone 'Arcadians' ... there was still a 'B in use when I went to college, being used in the physics lab for data logging... whenever we went in we disconnected it and fired up Chuckie Egg or Arcadians instead; someone's experiments obviously had quite a few holes in their data! :lolz:

I've got a couple of 5-1/4" drives for the Beebs, but no games unfortunately... unless "123 counting", "maths challenge" and some other random pre-national curriculum educational software titles count :D
