Razoola, I have an idea related to your recent news post about the universe bios. Would it be possible to produce a sticker that only you could give to the people who have purchased an authentic universe bios chip? The stickers would have the serial numbers of the bios chips printed/written on them and they could be mailed easily in the same envelopes as the chips themselves.

That would not solve anything because people would still sell the fakes. All I can do is not offer the latest version free. Then at least people who do fake it have to at least buy one chip which is something I soppose.

Razoola, I have a question about the Universe Bios. Would it be easy for you to change the colours of the bios menus (by changing variable values in the program code)? I've been wondering what would the menus look like if they were blue (my favourite colour ;)) instead of green...

Go to the ingame menu an hilight 'soft reset'. Now hold the joystick down and press B+D together.

I got a sweet deal on CPS2 cabinet, and I think I'm going to buy it.

However, I don't have the space for it at my place, but it'd be a shame to pass up on it. Therefore I'm going to store it, at least for some time, at my parents' place. Naturally my mom wouldn't be too keen on having a cab inside the house, so I'll have to put it in the garage.

But I'd like to know from you guys, if it'd be all right to keep it there for the duration of the winter? The garage is separate from the house, and un-heated, so it'd be only slightly warmer than the outside. But naturally unaffected from other weather effects.

So could the cold harm the cab? Or could there be some water condensation, or something?

Raz? Anybody?

Razoola, what is the current status of the fatalities in the censored version of SSVS? Have you found the original, uncensored fatalities in those game cartridges or have they been completely removed? Do I still have to buy the uncensored version of the game to get the original fatalities?

Razoola

Only the original censored AES SSVS can have full fatalities unlocked. If you get the newer fixed less censored version you cannot unlock the full amimation fatalities.

Razoola, the memory card that I'm using with my AES has stopped working again. The unibios shows an exception error screen if I try to turn my AES on with the memory card inserted. The first time this problem occured was a while ago when Reiko came to play SSVS with me. We decided to try NAM-1975 as well, but when I switched the game cartridges the error screen appeared. This was the first time when I had removed the SSVS cart from my AES. The memory card was working before I switched the game carts, because I loaded a previously saved game from the card when we were still playing SSVS.

I'm not sure what might have caused the memory card to stop working. The AES is working well without the card. I'll PM you the information shown on the error screen later today.

Razoola

Aaah, now I can start messing around with my Amiga 1200 :)
Not so long ago, I asked my friend in England what happened to his A1200, he told me he had it in his attic, so then I bought it off him, and have got it back with me from my last trip to England.
It's fitted with a 127MB HDD, and a '68020@25 w/ 4MB Fast Ram' expansion card.
I intend to pimp it somewhat ;) I got an internal cd drive kit, and Kickstart 3.1 roms from eBay, and will install them... then i'll look to get a better accelerator card, and upgrade the hdd... hopefully I can try and get Amiga OS 3.9 running on this sucker!

I wasn't very involved with the Commodore Amiga / Atari ST generation. One of my brother's friends used to have an Amiga 500, but somehow I never really wanted one for myself. I can still remember several of the Amiga's games though (for example Stunt Car Racer, Lemmings, Barbarian II, Dynamite Dux and Persian Gulf Inferno).

a500 is by far my most beloved gaming machine, computer, whatnot of all time.

i had hundreds of games (bought a lot with my wee savings), dozens of broken quickshot 2's & tac2's, and tons of blisters on my hands due to rabid sessions of SWOS. i even endured playing through monkey island 2 countless of times even though i had only one additional disk-drive (MI2 was on about 12 disks).

i loved everything about the amiga, so much in fact that it lasted with me from 87 to 97 in constant use. ppl had nes, snes and genesis, even fancy new pc games, yet i did not care. amiga was all i needed.

it had the best collection of music in gaming history, and some of the best games ever made... i heart amiga

My experiences with any Amiga are almost nill. Only time I played with one was Bubble Bobble at one of my not so close friends house in 1995 or so. My first computer was Commodore 64 that I got for free with a cassette drive and some games. Not that I'd use it as a computer, just play games... Then at some year my dad threw it away (!)since it was gathering dust (I had a 486 PC at the time). That was quite terrible. Lucky all the games and joystick and some stuff were spared, he just threw the actual C64 away >_>

Now I have a C128, an RGB monitor, and the disk and cassette drives, which I got for free again from relatives. They are also gathering dust and taking space now. There are no games worth playing really :(

I Just sold around 60 Amiga CIB games to a Finnish Amiga collector for a pretty nice price.
Man that was a heavy lot to ship!

I sold my CIB A1200 Magik Pak and CDTV too a while ago for an excellent price.
On the floor right now there are 3 A500 Amigas, one is with the memory add-on.
They are all going to Huuto.net with lots of other stuff when I've the time to put'em there.

I still have my AD&D collection (around 25 CIB games) and the Ultima (hmm.. maybe 10 games) collection. C64 and Amiga versions.
I've received offers but not even near enough.
I think I'm going to keep'em.

I used to own an Amiga 2000 when I was younger, bought it from Germany.
I had to sell it when I joined the army, needed the cash. :(

There's a handful of game midis on Arcade Tones (http://arcadetones.emuunlim.com/poly.htm) which you can download through the wap browser.

Other than that, I don't really know. You could get Opera Mini (http://www.opera.com/products/mobile/operamini/phones/?phone=nokia_6030) and try to download the midis off VGMusic (http://www.vgmusic.com/information/sitemap.php). I don't know if this would work on your phone.

I'm working there every day, for Amo/Nintendo.

I believe PS3 hands-on would take a lot of waiting, there are only a few of them there, in a closed booth or something.

But there are 12 Wiis there, with 2 Zeldas, 2 Marios, Metroid Prime 3, ExciteTruck, Wii Play, Wii Sports and Wario Ware.

Congratulations! :) Was it worth the long wait? Could you tell us some more impressions about the Wii and it's games?

I was intrested in the Wii a while ago, but after giving it some more thought I decided to be patient and not to buy it yet. There are still a few AES games that I want to buy in the near future and for me the Wii doesn't yet have the "must-have" game. I hope that the next SNKP arcade games (KoF XII, Samurai Shodown 3D) will be released for the Wii. The virtual console would be great for me since I don't have any of the VC's supported consoles. How much do the Wii points cost if you buy them online?

Reiko
12-12-2006, 05:13 PM
1000 Wii Points for 10€. I don't find that nice though, because I wanted to buy one PC Engine game and they cost 600 points, but you can't buy 600 points, you have to buy a thousand so you'll have 400 extra points left. And you can only use those points if you buy a thousand more points, as the cheapest games are NES games for 500 points. Also there's the PAL issue of VC, which means games will be as sweet as we remember them to be, in their 50 hz slowliness and black borders, and we'll never get games that haven't been released in our region. Some games are supposedly as good as the NTSC versions but not most.

I'm really enjoying the Wii, as I play it with my family (Wii Sports) and Zelda is a really great game. Then again, Zelda is available for Gamecube too. Might be better to wait for a lot more games to arrive and the price is sure to drop at some point to 199 or less. Worth the wait? Hell yes, I've been salivating over it as soon as the controller was revealed ^^ And the controller at least sure doesn't disappoint. We just need more games now!

Akira_Tekagi

1000 Wii Points for 10€.
The Wii Points seem to be cheaper if you buy them online. Wii Points Cards (2000 Wii Points) cost 24,90€ at Stockmann and 22,90€ at Verkkokauppa.com.

I hope the difference isn't too bad... I'll have to see that for myself.

It's a Naomi 2, the newer mobo that runs Virtua Fighter 4 as well. I've also got a GD-rom drive in it, so I can play all the games. Well, not Crazy Taxi or House of the Dead, but all the normal control games.

Only got two games for it so far, Sports Jam and Virtua Striker 3, with Virtua Tennis possibly on the way from the seller. But don't worry, I'll soon get some "real" games as well. :p

My Shopping list:

From puzzle games, Puzzle Bobble, Sega Tetris and Puyo Puyo are a must. And just for the sake of completeness, I'll get some more sports games, namely Virtua Athlete, Virtua NBA and Beach Spikers.

How about fighting games? Marvel vs Capcom 2, a couple of Capcom vs SNK, five Guilty Gears, Street Fighter Zero 3... And from the 3D department we've got the Power Stones, Dead or Alive 2, and of course Virtua Fighter 4, Evolution and THE one game without a home console port, VF4 Final Tuned.

Shmups still take the cake though. Horizontally I can play Border Down, Giga Wing 2, Chaos Field, Zero Gunner 2 and Senko no Ronde. But after rotating the monitor, the rest of them open up: Psyvariar 2, Shikigami no Shiro II, Radilgy, Karous, Trigger Heart Excelica, Trizeal, Under Defeat... and Ikaruga.

I'm in heaven, and will be more so after my wallet recovers from this blow and I can start buying games for it.:D

Yeah, from the same guy who sold me my Neo-Geo. Realgames.org.

I've been wanting a Naomi for so long, always drooling over the Universal Cabinets in Helsinki's movie theaters. And I knew a Universal Cabinet is what I want, they are the best. (Both technically and aesthetically. :) )

I had asked the seller to inform me when he gets these in stock, if he gets them. And to my surprise soon enough I got a call and got to pick the best of two Naomi 1 machines (with a GD-rom drive) and I bought and installed a Naomi 2 from them as well. Now I have a Universal Cabinet with everything inside, and it only cost me 1000 euros... That's CHEAP.

Finn, that is soooo slick, nice one!
Raz, you got an article in 'Pelit'? Don't look at finnish mags, so hadn't noticed... anyone got a scan?

A small section yes. Its part of a larger section on NeoGeo.

I ended my Pelit subscription a long time ago, so I went to the library to read the latest issue. I was very excited to see that it had a four page article on the Neo Geo. I was also glad to see that it even had a small section about you and the universe bios, Raz!

It's strange that the Neo Geo article in Pelit hasn't attracted new people to this forum. Finnish gamers are so mainstream... :oh_no:

Akira, you do know if it's not on teh pstriplez it's teh suck? :oh_no:
Well, aslong as there are some of us around who still appreciate what has been before.
Infact i'm currently filling in some holes in my Dreamcast collection... which is an interesting corralation to the Neo for me... I was telling a friend about the DC recently, and summed it up by saying that out of all the consoles I have, the Neo and DC are the only ones that make you wanna go

I just received a Sega Mega Drive II from a classmate along with Sonic 2 but the RF cable is broken. Anyone got a spare one to sell for a low price? Or know a place where to get a working cable? (can be composite, RGB or RF)

Game House sells and makes console video cables.

Just bought Game Boy Micro Famicom edition + The Legend of Zelda (famicom mini) + Warioland Advance from Play-Asia. They're selling those for a nice price.
