Why did Sony do that. :(

I have a 1.50 version. How do you change the firmware and how do change it back to 1.50 firmware?. :)

Oh man, I just bought Full Auto this morning too. I'll have to wait at least 2 weeks for Gradius now :(

I'm not sure if you'll be able to understand this... *Amano takes a deep breath and puts on ultra-patient mode*

You can upgrade to a new firmware just by following the instructions when you try to use a UMD game that requires it. However you can only go back to 1.5 if you install 2.0. If you install anything greater than that then you are stuck with it for now. I'm not sure what firmware version Gradius require, but I think it is 2.5.

Okay,here are some impressions:

Pros

- Dead-on presentation of the original games.
- Three screen modes: normal,large,full.
- Gradius I&II supports true widescreen!
- Hit box option: normal/small.
- Gallery mode: music from the original + X68000 revisions (Gradius I&II only). Intro movies from previous Gradius compilations (deluxe pack,3&4,Gaiden).

Cons

- Absence of 2P/co-op mode.

An absolute must-have for shooter enthusiasts!

HOLY SHIT THIS GAME IS GOOD.

Everything is here and really REALLY good. I didn't think they'd cram it all in, but it's all here. The control feels great to me (I found Vampire Chronicles unplayable and sold it the same day I bought it)

I'm REALLY happy with this collection. Easily the best handheld shmupping around.

I went on vacation last week and played this and Suikoden II on the train. BLISS.

Vampire Chronciles was unplayable because of the PSP D-pad, the pad is just a hair too thin, a very stupid thing on Sony's part. You put about .5mm behind it and it works like a charm. I can play Darkstalkers and Alpha 3 now without a hitch. If you have a warranty, hold on to it. If not, try a d-pad mod or using the Alpha 3 paste on. Either option is easy though you obviously have more risk in taking apart the PSP.

You will get dust in your screen if you take it apart. Have blow out spray, that will work just fine. The outside of the PSP can take some scratches just fine, the inside of the screen is highly delicate, don't even try to wipe the screen with a soft cloth, it will scratch. Only use the blow out spray. Outside of that, not much else to it.

I've been wanting to pick this up, I finally feel like I'm getting a little use out of my PSP at least. Sad that they are all just remakes and ports though. At least they are porting/remaking some good games though.

It does rock for sure.. Try it with an emu first then buy if you like... It works now off the memory card as there are patched for it released...

Firmware is 2.5 if you use the UMD so try the ISO first...

Someone mentioned TATE mode, that's only for vertical shooters dude!, Gradius is obviously not a vertical shooter.

I love Gradius, and it's coming to the USA, it's on the Gamestop SKU if that means much at all, but we can allways hope right?

There are plenty of reasons to own a PSP, I hear a lot of complaints out there, so here's a list of awsome games.

Lumines
Ridge Racer
Vampire Chronicles (D-Pad Hacked)
Guilty Gear XX Reload (uses both D-Pad and Analog Stick)
Sengoku Ace 3rd Episode
Virtua Tennis World Tour
Street Fighter Alpha 3 (Tag mode sucks though)
Capcom Collection
Midway Collection
Megaman BOTH OF THEM!
Metal Gear Acid!
Intelligent Qube (whatever the name is I can't place it right now, but is awsome!)

That's just a few, there are plenty of reasons to own a PSP, and the best one of all, you can play NEOCD images, I already ripped a few of my friends CD's and Real Bout Special Portable Rules!!

I know there are internet images of this games, but they suck the music is downgraded, and I hate piracy, so I juts use my friends games, since I have the MVS version of the games I ripped anyway, I don't feel guilty about it.

That's a pretty good list, but the big issue is if you have all those game and more, then you can't play the NeoCD games at all. Everything is requiring the version 2.6 upgrade, and even the TIFF image trick is no longer viable. In order to play the new games, you have to sacrifice that nice Emulation thing you're talking about. At least for a good while.

I'll give it to Capcom Collection on PSP. Capcom finally got smart and included a MUCH needed title to their collection. Black Tiger. A very good game that got none of the love it deserved. It's still one of Capcom's best platform shooter titles, ever.

I have a PSP, and at the moment the main thing that interests me, is the Megaman Powered Up. I told myself, I plan to wait until I'm ready to do the 2 things simultaneously. One, get a Wireless router to hook into my regular one. Two, get Megaman Powered up. I want to be able to, from day one, start downloading new Megaman levels, from the net. However, I'm in a hundred or so mile area where the only way to get Wireless on a PSP, is to have your own personal wireless router.

GTA hack works for PSP up to 2.6, The latest 2.6.1 upgrade sadly does not work with gta but it will be fixed in good time.

Also man Capcom Collection Remix owns my soul on the psp. I put more time in this then I do alpha 3 with the add on d-pad. I cant wait for the reloaded collection comming out this summer that has many of the games removed from remix (Gouels & Ghost, Street Fighter 2) plus a bunch other (Knights of the round).

I hope capcom bust out more and starts dipping into their zn1/2 & Cps2 collection. :D

Oh also imo Megaman X > Powered up. While powered up has alot of cool things the controlls just piss me off too much.

I think that's the collection I really want. I remember reading something about it on Gamespot. I want the one with Black Tiger on it.
