Um. Metal Slug's been on for a while. I have it. It actually stars two new people in it though, but it's a pretty neat Metal Slug. It isn't as long and such as 2nd Mission, on the NGPC, but it does have graphics much more akin to the MVS look, by nature of its hardware.

It's a pretty good Slug, but still not quite the level of Slug that all the MVS versions were. It's kind of hard to pick between this and 2nd Mission as 2nd Mission had a lot more to offer in terms of at-home content. It looks pretty nice, though. Could've sounded better, but I wont fault the system for that. The cart is nowhere the kind of sizes the MVS carts have, so I'd expect the sound to be low keyed. NGPC only wowed me in the sound department because of all the work that little system did to try to produce the sound. The NGPC really was that little system that could, and they really put good effort to push that sound chip, at times.

On another note, I did find that the KOF EX2 on the GBA did really push that little sound chip, so that was kind of impressive.

Tonk is talking about the actual NG Metal Slug 1 port that is supposed to come out on it. As far as I know, it still hasnt come out and I havent seen any updated news on its release. It should still be planned for this year. For some reason March comes to mind, but I may be way off.

I was under the impression SNKP was making another Metal Slug game for the GBA that was supposed to model or be a port of the the original Nazca MVS/AES Metal Slug. This was going to be different the one that has been out for a while.

If anyone has any info regarding this please post; I am avidly awaiting this game.

There are ports of MS1, 2, X, and 3 announced for the GBA in Japan. None of them have fixed release dates yet.

I have Metal Slug Advance and that game is a lot more challenging than any MS game I have played.

Looking forward to the port of the original.

ports for the advance?
Fuck that, Make it for PSP.
"Expensive cartridges? Let's put MVS games on CD!"

Yeah, I know... faster drives... still fun to make that analogy, though. And on a side note: there are 1gbit flash carts for GBA, so there can almost certainly be 1gbit games. Not that Metal Slug is that big... just, that's the theoretical size limit of a Neo-Geo cart, right?
