I'm really astonished not to see any thread about the GBA. I mean, that's one of the best handheld systems, if not the best and no one is talking about it... I know that attention whores (DS, PSP) are the handheld future but some need to realize all the good games on the GBA/SP/Micro.

SO here's a thread to talk everything GBA related.

I recently bought a blue GB Micro + some games:

Rainbow Six - Rogue Spear: I loved Rainbow Six 3 so I picked this one up. Still sealed though.

Fire Emblem : Like RS-RS, it's still sealed cause I already have some games to finish first, like...

Fire Emblem - Sacred Stones: Ok, this is the one I spend the most time on and it's simply great. Some might wonder why I started with the second in the series though whereas I have both. Actually, It's been a long time since I haven't played a T-RPG so as FE-SS is known to be more easy than the first one, I decided to get some skill first before plyed the harder one.

Star Wars - New Droid Army: It's an enjoyable game, really. But I'm stuck somewhere and the difficulty is just insane. Tried dozen of times and just put the game on the shelf. I simply can't go through the level. Damn bots bitches. :blow_top:

Nes Classics - Castlevania : I'm simply amazed by the playability of this older game! The controls are quite sharp for a Nes game. It's obviously one of the best Nes Classics games.

Otherwise, I'd like more shmups one GBA cause I find the ones already there quite good so please. ;)

So who is still deep into GBA stuff actually?

Tonk is..

Depends what kind of shooters your looking for, I've got quite a few GBA games but there isn't really any vertical shooters that stand out to my knowledge theres Gradius Advance and R-Type III for horizontal ones but Im not sure how good they are.. You've got to pick up Astro Boy and Gunstar Future Heroes though there really im pressive GBA games.

me too.

the castlevanias on gba is pure sex. gba games is just 'something' for me. i would replayed them every time i get a new system, ie. gba sp, gba micro, nds.

when the new ds-lite comes out, i'm pretty sure i'm gonna replay my gba games again.

Oddly, I've never liked the GBA Castlevanias. I never managed to get into the semi-RPG atmosphere. If I want adventure, I play Metroid Zero Mission and If I want Castlevania stuff, I play (guess what...) Castlevania.

I'm hastely waiting the Megaman Collection too. I wonder when it's gonna be released...

Oh, and one more point:

I doubted quite a long time whether I should buy a GB Micro or not. 99E is quite a price for the ones who already have a GBA abd a SP. So I finally bought it and I must say I'm totally convinced now. Sure it might not deserve 99E but damn, this Micro is simply lovely. Sharp controls, soft buttons, radiant screen, earphone plug. It's a great buy, I'm in love with it.

And here are the 2 skins I bought to my sexy lady:

very nice..

yeah at first i thought the micro is too small and stuff, but after i bought it (twice) i'm really happy with it. it looks sexy and the screen is bright although not as bright as the gbasp2.

i got the black one and the famicom edition.

I'll agree with the Micro discussion too, I found it really fun playing on the thing and I love the movement in the D-Pad works really well much better than the flat SP one. The screen is crisp and bright and playing games on the micro.. I dunno.. has this extra kind of fun factor about it :) I've got the Famicom version myself and its a beaut!

Ha ha, I'd like to test Super Dodge Ball, must be fun as hell. :) The GBA is full of funny games, along the great ones.

I'd like to buy a card game and I'm not sure what to take. You know, the "Magic The Gathering" style of card game, with spells, monsters etc. Isn't it some Yu Gi Oh game? Other than that? Any help would be useful.

I have a black GBA Micro too, but I don't seem to be able to find any skins in Japan. Does anyone know if they were released in Japan?

Hell yea, GBA is still handheld king.

With great titles like Scurge:Hive and Drill Dozer on the way, there's still life left in the grand old man of the handheld world.

And yes...NES Castlevania on GBA(Micro especially) is where it's at. I can't believe how many copies of this game ended up in bargain bins at Walmart.
What a shame.

I never owned any of the GBA's, but I'm slowly picking up some titles thanks to the DS playing them.

Unfortunately, I have come to realize that Castlevania isn't really Castlevania anymore...and excluding the Metroidvanias, fuck the 3D games as well. I continually wish for a Castlevania that has elements from the series of old, however I'm just in denial I'll never see another of its kind in 2D.

Anyways, for a few years I hated the GBA...then the Circuit City $5 sale came and I finally experienced Mega Man & Bass, Gradius Galaxies, and others. Afterwards I became a huge fan, and played the apex of my GBA career -- Astro Boy. The best GBA game, and one of the greatest games ever; a true classic.

The GBA is an amazing handheld, if not the greatest. It actually almost helps me forget about that atrocity called the Game Boy Color.

Yea, I just recently "rediscovered" the GBA again. I bought the JPN Famicom Mirco and a copy of Astroboy. That got me hooked! I just bought the Castlevania two pack and now I can't stop playing the GBA micro. The games that I am circling through are Super Mario Super Stars, Castlevania Two Pack, Astroboy, and Super Mario Bros 3. This is the first time in my life that I can actually bring my gameboy with me anywhere.

Quick question about the Gameboy micro. Will Nintendo be releaseing just the faceplate in the near future? I had to buy a generic black faceplate from nintendo.com because I didn;t want to scratch up the famicom one that I had, but since Nintendo of America released the Famicom edition Gameboy in the states I was able to buy two extra facplates.

The GBA is, and will always be my choice for a handheld...

I simply LOVE the Micro, the screen is perfect for leveling up a few times before bed, wonderful to look at, brings out all of the sharpness in the GBA titles...

I'm going to start picking up other GBA Ctitles that just look interesting...

So far my playlist includes:

- Final Fantasy IV Advance - Simply flawless! The best RPG ever made - PERIOD

- Pokemon Leaf Green - A well balanced, fun and interesing title, not much updated on the graphical side for the jump to 32-bit. But the gameplay makes up for the lousy visuals.

- All of the Castlevanias - What needs to be said?

- Zelda 2, NES Classic - Still sealed, but as soon as I'm done with Final Fantasy IV, I'll jump into this. I really never gave it a full play.

There are some other titles I'm planning on getting, but time will tell.

I'd love some more GBA titles, but I only buy Japanese games and no one in the UK imports them any more :(

Dammit, I'm stuck in Firem Emblem: Sacred Stones. This game became hard all of a sudden... Anyway, it's a really great game.

So am I. Actually, I'm not sure I'm stuck, I might just have got distracted. There are several levels I have had to replay a lot, but I am much less willing to lose people and miss things with this game than I was with the first one. Great game, though.

I would like to buy another shooter for my Micro after Phalanx and I can't choose between R-Type III and Gradius Advance. Which one is the best?

Otherwise, I'm totally addicted to Fire Emblem 2, this makes me go crazy.

I still have love for my gba, been meaning to pick up a SP though.

My current fav is Gunstar Super Heroes since that was the last one I picked up, I use to get the MM Battlenet games when they were fun( the Zero games are still ok though ), and I've still never played a Fire Emblem game.

I just got a DS and I am playing GBA games more than DS games! GBA is incredible, I really missed alot of the great games but I am keen to pick them up now, here are my growing library of GBA games:

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (30 hours in and I am so addicted!!)

Tactics Ogre (will start as soon as I finish FFTA)

Phantasy Star Collection (looking to replay PS1, 2 an 3!)

Double Dragon Advance (one of the best beatem ups!)

Castlevanias Double Pack (finished Aria of Sorrow, going to play Dissonance soon)

Gunstar Superheroes (such a great game, but it is tough)

F-Zero GP Legend (just got it yesterday for $5, seems like a good Fzero game)

Racing Gears Advance (nice 3D isometric racing game, hard though)

Fire Pro Wrestling 2

Advanced War 2 (This is really fun, I need to get AW1 first before I play this)

Final Fantasy Dawn of Souls

----

I need to get alot more RPGs and some of the classics to round out my GBA collection. The problem is finding these older games in complete condition, is pretty damn hard. :(
