Not sure if any of you recall but I got a horrible Puzzle Bobble boot from Lead Tech Games in Canada. I returned it, and about 3 weeks later, my exchanged copied arrives in the mail. When I opened it up, it looked suspect again! Some of the chips have the MVS # on them, others are blank and there are 2 eeproms on it. The 2 eeproms however have computer printed stickers on them. Let me know what you think.

096 is Art of Fighting 3. The 'blank' ones don't look blank to me. Looks in the pic like very light lettering Some of them should say 083. It does look legit though.

Well according to that post topher, mine is legit. I still question it however. This seller already sold me a boot Puzzle Bobble. Naturaly I returned it and am very suspicious about this one.

Nah I think its real after reading up a little bit. The thing that worries me is the sound sometimes gets garbled. I think thats due to dirty connectors however. I gave it a quick once over cleaning w/ some alcohol earlier. What prompted me to do that was the game wouldn't boot at all. I got it to boot, but the music garbles a little....

Looks like a legit PB, bit odd with it having AoF3 chips on the board though. Guess it's just another left over MVS cart that SNK converted into PB.

Did that company EVER do anything right?

I think my puzzle bobble is a boot.. I'll take pics tomorrow and post them...
I have many many eproms with windows and there is one spot that had a little jumper wire soldered from one point to another. There is no tape over the windows so my cart might be dead since it will not boot up in my MVS.
The chips are labeled 1, 2, 3, 4 with a marker. If this is a boot, can i just flash
the puzzle bobble or any rom set to that cart? I dont have a eprom writer or anything, but i dont want to loose a game that could be fixed..

I'll try to get you all the pics tomorrow..

I don't think the pics are needed, mate.

That's the bootiest boot I ever heard of.

Agreed. The number of eproms, the wire... As boot as boot can be.

Here is my puzzle bobble.... If this is a boot..and i think it is, you can use these images as examples on this forum... Since his is a bootleg, can the eproms be over written and another game put on it, or does the board need to be reconfigured? Just a thought I had since it was dead already..

@billd420 : Your Puzzle Bobble 's legit. Don't forget this game has oddities about names stamped.

I'd say that's a boot. I've never seen a puzzle bobble with a CHA420 board in it, puzzle de pon yes, but PB no.

cheers,

I actually have a Metal Slug with those chips with the D in front of them...I always figured it was a boot even though it had an original label. Does anyone else have a Metal Slug like that? I actually did get another MS but maybe now I have two ;) I'll have to post some pictures.

Does your Metal Slug look like this boot ? With "D" instead of "C".

I don't think so, but I'll have to look at the cart again. I'll post if I see that, but it did not have the m in the front of the chips, it was similar to the PB cart more.

Do you think my puzzle bobble might be a different game other than the label since it has the CHA420 board in it?

When i put my cart back together, i cleaned the contacts and then decided to try it again... the cart works.. but i can not see it since my monitor is out. i really dont care if its a boot as long as it works and i can get the enjoyment of playing the game...
