OK- the character 'Sankuro' is fucking rediculous and unfair. I hope that statement is incorrect- but I have played Sankuro players and it's almost like you have maybe a 10-20% chance of winning a round- due to his UNBLOCKABLE super and health rejuvinating moves.

Can anyone please let me know if there's something I am missing? Stategies or tips for playing against a character with a rapid refill rage gague and an unblockable super and 'behind you' type grab moves that also set you up for an instant 40% damage hit+loss of weapon.

I don't want to have to use him to compete- what's the point of playing a competative game if the deck is stacked?

Well?

I wouldnt try to "compete" with this game. Not only is he cheap but Yoshitora Tokugawa is also way cheap. I just play and try to have fun. If I find an abusive player using either of these charicters I just go look for another player.

yep if you are talking 5 then good luck if you expect a reasonably balanced game.

yoshi has an infinite which is quite easy to do, yunfei can float off the top of the screen iirc, etc.

I havent come across much of that....but Im only in the top 25 last time I checked...probably top 30 now...I have only played a couple of the top 10 guys....and they didnt use bosses.

Just play the people you like , add them and just work on normal characters.
You can always practice with the Boss characters offline until you can play cheaply too I guess....but its not much fun only using them

I don't play 'seriously', but when I'm ranked 4 for the week and then I get to play Sankuro- a character who's a cheater in the story even, mind you- and I can't defend against his super and he can instantly get 1/2 his health back- it just makes me pissed. I have had what I thought was the match won, only to have a rediculous reversal come out. And this is sort of common with Sankuro. If you have the guy down to 1/8th of his life bar and you've got 7/8th- I'd say if you lose that match and at the end Sankuro has ALL his lifebar back- that is bullshit on a level I just haven't dealt with before. He can literally go from a sliver of health to FULL health if you can't hit him in the middle of his move.

I don't mind Yoshitora- his 5 HIT fierce slash is too much- but it's something you can deal with. I just hink that Sankuro is unfair. Just flat out silly.

I suppose I will just have to decline any match with a player I know (or strongly suspect) will pick Sankuro. But you don't know for sure until you get to the select screen.

Meh.

I wanna see if there's some strategies for dealing with Sankuro though- anyone have any ideas? I mostly stay in the air if his rage gague is full- and watch to see if he tries his 'sushi plate' move. He seems to have good priority in the air though- and his gang attacking you makes it very hard to deal with reactions to them grabbing you/jumping on you- as all the sprite does is call out- no wind up so you have time to react.

I think I'm going to pass on this. I was never a big fan of the game when I was playing it by myself, and when there's the KOF 94 rebout and NGBC around the corner I'll just wait for those instead. I really wish we had SS2 or SS3 online instead :(

I'd be happy with Tenka online.

NGBC is coming out on an xbox system soon? Or did you mean Neowave?

So are you paying this game then? If so- I was asking for advice.

Nah, I'm a 3rd Strike addict. If I bought it, it would probably just collect dust.

But I'm also a compulsive game buyer, so I'll probably still buy it. :kekeke:

Nevermind galtardo Scott.
SSV is fun, but you can't consider it a competitive game at all.
Just play with people you know, or don't bother.
It's got more exploitable shit than just about any other Live-enabled fighter.
If people are going to try to rank whore on that game, that's truly sad.

sankuro was never intended to be a playable character i don't think. at least the cpu version on mvs fell victim to patterns and repeated throws in the corner. what kind of move set did they give him aside from the helpers, gun super, and pizza move? does he still have tremendous recovery after eating? if i remember correctly you could punish him after eating in ssv, might not take off all of what he regained, but he was extremely easy to hit no matter what.

True, I don't know what people are really bitching about.

If they hadn't noticed, Gill is a little on the unfair side in 3rd Strike, but that doesn't mean the game is broken. If someone picks Gill, or an unfair boss character, I say that the other guy has the option to drop, or quit, or whatever.

Eventually people will get the message, just as in 3rd strike with Gill.

I am not really an online fighter veteran, mainly cause I played CvsSNK2 on live and was put off by the way people would make their colors dayglo and ugly- like a bright yellow Ken with bright yellow skin. I was half convinced they were doing it just to distract their opponents.

And I liked 3rd Strike, but I just didn't have the enthusiasm to play mutch, should have though

And SSV is a SamSho game so I have been really into it.

I don't mind the unbalanced characters just because they are unbalanced- the chick/dude that is the ukyo sprite rape (with morphing powers) is too strong as well, as are a few others- but I don't feel like I cannot win. Whereas Sankuro makes me just want to put the controller down and turn off the box. An unblockable gun move with a rage gague that refills like a motherfucker- it's just rediculous.

Well- if you guys are on add me: neobuyer666

3rd Strike is the shit as far as online fighters go. It's worth the effort, IMO. You really have to get a good stick to enjoy it though. There's just no way around it.

I'm sure CvS 2 is ok, but I could never get into it. The gameplay mechanics just don't do it for me. They seem stiff and lack fluidity. Every time I start to get into CvS 2, I just start wondering why I'm playing it and not 3rd Strike. And really, there's no reason, as 3rd Strike is just plain better in every conceivable way. The gameplay and the atmosphere and the cardboard cutout graphics just all seem mediocre.

Yunfei has become my answer to those dudes that play Sankuro- so I have been playing him a lot- but I still love Jubei.

I still haven't seen Greedostick in this thread.

EDIT: "formerly DaMaN" ok, now I know ya

cvs2 is alot faster paced.. and has alot more characters and styles of play when it comes to third strike. you really should give cvs2 a chance!

I have to disagree. Third Strike is a fun game, but it's all apples and oranges in the end. CvS2 is a much faster game, and when it comes to chaining and canceling in that game you have to be extremely spot-on. Third Strike allows for a lot of mistakes that you can get away with, which I'm not saying is a bad thing, just that the "fluidity" in that sense goes to CvS2.

There's so much going on in that game that the combinations of matches you can have and what each groove brings to the character keeps the replay value way, way up. I can see CvS2 being played years from now.

Scott, did my voice messages come through?

I mean, if someone offered me a free reach-around, I'd be all over it...

Can you imagine the possibilities?
