Which PC monitor do you use for your AES?

I am trying to buy a new monitor for my PC maybe 19-20" but I want to hook up my AES to it via RGB outs from my Neobitz. My current monitor says it's out of the scan range so I guess it has to be 60hz and not the 59.?? that the AES puts out.

The monitor doesnt have to be LCD or plasma, just looking for a cheap fix something I can find for about $100 slightly used.

Thanks Guys.

Why do you want to do this, mate?

Wouldn't the Neo look like shit on a PC monitor?
320x224 on a 20" :(

Commodore 1084 for MVS and I see people are using it for AES as well. Commodore monitor is for the portable rig for the 12 hour work weekends.

Commodores look excellent.

An AES on a VGA monitor will be extremely bright sharp and colorful, but the upscanned image looks jaggy as hell.

I say get a commodore or sony pvm and have a cable made for it. MKL made mine and it looks amazing.

The only time I use a PC screen is when I am traveling on business and I use my laptop to play. If I am going to play on a PC screen, I really find that an emulator does the job better then a VGA adapter. The lack of scan lines really makes the sprites look like garbage.

I recommend buying an arcade monitor. I personally prefer a big one, but lots of people like the smaller ones do to the pixel spaceing.

If you have a HDTV you might want to try running your AES thru a DVDO iscan ultra, instead of into a PC monitor.
http://www.dvdo.com

The iScan upcoverts any interlaced signal into true progressive scan, so
since you have the RGB modification, which is of course "480i" The iScan will convert this into a true 480p resolution.

Its worth investigating if you are serious about squeezing the best possible picture out of your video gear, not to mention it lets you view everything on one video source.

That sounds like a good idea!

I didn't know you could do that.

The iScan ultra is a good model to look for, its older but has two HD outs R G B and DVI. (has a DVI pass thru too)
Since it's an older model it can found for around $200.00 on eBay, compared to the newer models at around $900.00.
