If this Naruto is like the Japanese PS2 ones, then I just might finally have an option to have one for myself. Sure, the Gamecube ones are uber popular (particularly starting with the 3rd one), but I found the PS2 ones (that my friend had) to be just as good, in different ways. I wasn't so hot on the feature that has you rotating the stick and such all fast as much, for supers. It brought back too many Dragonball GT nightmares where the person who could physically press a button faster than the other, wins. It sucked because it wasn't a measure of skill, but simply a measure of physical ability, so in general, too many times, you have people who never could win because they could never press a button faster than one other player. No way to learn to press the button faster, and thus you had a clear victor.......forever.

I liked the way the original Naruto PS2 system had it, better. Where you have to press a series of buttons that showed up faster than the other. It was a case of hand eye coordination and pattern viewing, but not physical speed. That's a hill that could be overcome.

It's been tried before. The anime games that actually use the SF or KOF method of entry were much worse than these games.

However, since games like Powerstone and Smash Brothers came out. Capcom and Nintendo's little developer were able to create an enjoyable fighting engine style that doesn't quite take the precision that Capcom and SNK's brand of 2D engines require.

Now some of these independant doujin fighter creators are pretty darn good, and if they happen to land an official license, they would be creating the *great* anime fighting games, of the SF/KOF 2D style. As of right now, they're just busy unofficially putting certain anime characters together and applying *ripped-off* moves from Capcom, and SNK games.

Still, the Powerstone and Smash Brothers engines are quite successful, and they make *good* battle games, so fortunately anime-themed games have actually made an improvement by going that route.

The PS2 style of Naruto games are kind of the Smash Brothers/Powerstone hybrid. One piece, also does it that way (with the Gamecube one being very Powerstone-sided) Still, in presentation, the Naruto games have been pretty well done, and I'd give the presentation award a bit towards the late PS2 versions, particularly for the way you can hit someone out of an anime frame into another scene, and follow them there. The whole fighting in a manga thing was done quite well, in the later versions of the game.

I'm looking forward to this. I want to play Narutimate Hero 3 badly, but I don't want to pay $65 for it and since I don't have a DVD burner...

Anyway this is looking to be a port of it so I'll finally be able to play it. This will probably be my first PSP import.
