2 slot sound wiring problem

Can any of the geniuses out there please tell me how to hook up the stereo via scart for my 2 slot?

I assumed it was just a case of attaching pins 10 and L of the connector to pins 2 and 6 of the scart socket, but all I seem to get is very low mono sound. Any ideas?

Did you connect the audio ground to a ground pin? Just looking at the connector I'm assuming it's needed, however I've never used SCART so I don't know.

I would not connect directly, the outputs from pins 10 and L are to drive the speakers, not line level for scart input to your TV.

You need to attenuate first with say a 10k:1k potential divider on each channel.

If you have hooked it up that way the sound should be excessive not too low.

The audio ground is very important as spamyoutodeath mentioned.

Oh yeah. You should probably take the sound before it gets amplified.

What you're doing is correct. The (several) ground pins on the scart connector are of course all the same, all connected together on the TV so even if you have only one ground pin wired (and I guess you have or else you wouldn't get any picture) that would be enough to get sound.

The volume from the Jamma pins 10 and L is controlled by the SPEAKER (and not the HEADPHONE) slider. Try to raise the volume with that.

To check if it's stereo or mono (multislots are often hacked for mono) go into hardware test and then sound test.

In any case it's recommended that you tap stereo from the headphone jack instead of the Jamma connector.

Yeah tap the sound from the headphone socket like MKL said. That's what I did with mine and it's very easy, no attenuation circuit required.

Is there any chance you can post a pic of this, adam? I tried touching the 2 and 6 from the scart to the area where the headphone jacks are connected and I did get some sound, but even with my telly turned right up and the volume (headphone) trned up, it was still unacceptably quiet, I just need to make sure I am touching them to the right areas.

Thanks again, you guys are the best!

Have a look at this one:

Not sure if you can make it out from that. If not I'll get a close up pic for you. Excuse my dodgy soldering!

I tried doing what your picture shows (I actually found that pic in an old thread of yours yesterday) but it still comes out very quietly. Is it definetly pins 2 and 6 I need?

What does this 'attenuate' mean? Is it a case of adding some sort of resistor (but obviously not an ACTUAL resistor) on the left and right sound wires that amplifies the volume? Im confused........ :(

Yeah it's definitely pins 2 and 6 you need to wire to. That should work fine as long as you've got the headphone volume control turned up.

Attenuation decreases the sound volume. It's a small circuit used when wiring the sound from the Jamma edge as the signal from there is meant to be wired directly to speakers and could damage your tv if you wire it directly and have the volume turned up to the max.

Btw adding a resistor would decrease the sound volume, not amplify it.
