Which is the better supergun?

The Super Nova or HGA?

Please explain why.

Thanks!

Thanks!

I was kinda wondering, it (HGA) sounded better, what with color adjustment knobs etc...but I haven't been too happy with them (GW) myself.

I've tried buying carts from GW in the past. They list them as in stock on their site, but when you call they don't have them, or they tell you to callback, or say they will call or email you after they check their warehouse, and they don't. Once in a while they actually got back to me, told me they found the game, and would offer to sell me a cart for more money than it was listed for on their site, which would be "justified" because it would be shipping from India or something, but would take a month or more to arrive. Additionally they would want me to pay for it up front, and it would be in unknown condition.

Thank you for the info/link

The supernova may be better, but is it *good*?

You seem to get alot for $300...do they compromise on quality somewhere?

Can they and how?

Can these superguns supply enough power for a 6 slot board and card reader?

I don't see game select buttons on either brand...how do you do that with a multislot board and these superguns?

Thanks again!

You have to wire the game select in. All the multi boards are non Jamma but they are close. As for powering a 6 slot you would need an extra external power supply the 6 slot sucks the power. You could run a 1 slot or possibly a 2 from the supergun but anything more you will need another power supply.

Yes and no on the supergun with multislots. A Jameco (Ault) SC200 will definitely power a 1- or 2-slot and will also power some 4-slots, but not a 6-slot. The MAS Supernova will easily drive a 6-slot itself.

bc, PM coming back at ya.

Sure do, but PM me about what you're looking for (video output, connections, etc)

For pics, you can look here until I get me webpage in better order:

EDIT: Don't want to turn this thread into a sales pitch....

more powering 6 slot and game select questions

Will the HGA power a 6 slot?

What specifically does wiring the game selct button in involve?

Avoid the HGA at all costs

Ding.

It is utter trash. I've repaired one for someone else and it's a disaster. I got it working as best as possible without adding components and that thing at it's best is worse than Atari video quality.

there's what you get from a supernova

It would power a 6 slot.

If at all possible, it would be extremely cool to see a few more pictures of the ins and outs of the supernova. I like the overall design of the case, but I am too cheap to buy one when I know I can make a supergun for myself for a little bit less. Besides, I like the challenge.

The two controllers are what make the supernova worth the price.

good point. I tried making my own "arcade" controller once and it looked like ass. So, I just stick with hacked genesis controllers for now until I can get something better.

Build you own. It's down right simple and using your own components will make it MUCH higher quality and MUCH less expensive.

Really? I think you under estimate the expense that goes into making one. And the time. And the fact that "higher quality" only comes with (1) time and (2) experience. I'm not tooting my own horn, I'm saying that on your first shot it will take you a long time, lots of money in shipping stuff, and you will probably screw something up along the line that will cost you in quality, parts, or time. I think it's great someone making their own supergun and people should definitely try it. That's why I've been working on a guide to help folks.
