For those here who keep up on it, there's been a stop in the making of 25 inch standard res monitors... which pissed me off since I wanted to get one more, making every machine I had with a new monitor.

So, the reason? FCC said that all 25 inch and up monitors must be HD!! So, Wells Gardner got around it by making a 24.8 inch monitor that should fit all your arcade cabs that need a 25.

Stupid, but looks like a new model is out, so we can keep our old ass arcade machines looking ALMOST as good. Just .2 inches smaller. :D

Sorry if this is a repost.

Damn why do monitors have to be so much money? I spoke with a lady who works at my local arcade parts distro and she was telling me about these. Good idea.

Thing is most (not all) 25 inch cabs can fit a 27 inch monitor....

Thinking about upgrading my dedicated cps3 cab to 27 inch.

Out of curiosity, where did you read that this was because of the FCC? I heard it was because of the fact that the manufacturer that makes the 25" tubes no longer wanted to make them. The reason being is because 25" monitors are becoming obsolete in favor of LCD screens or 27" monitors.

arcade news group. If you have a link to a 27 inch standard res monitor I can buy, I'd love to see it, dimirichris. CPS3 is standard res, which is why I made this post to begin with. You may have to drop more money on a multi sync monitor, and not use the high res portion (which you paid good money for) just to use your old hardware. Now do you get my point? I know you can take 25 inch cabs and put 27s in there, I did it not long ago with my 9200 high res monitor. Barely fits, and you would need to modify the cab a bit, I would imagine, to fit it... I did.

I think it makes sense since all TVs are to be high res, maybe the same thing is said for monitors, I guess.

I dont have the link but the company MAZZCO that distros arcade parts out of indianapolis has standard rez cga (not tri rez) monitors at 27 in. You only save like fourty bucks so its not that great of a deal in the long run. I wasnt trying to down play that it is good news WG is making more 25 inch monitors.

Will this fit in a 24"inch Neo candy cab?
or is the .8 still to big?

If a 25 fits, this will. This is pretty much the same dimension, just a slight bit smaller to comply with "FCC"....

Oh, the reason why I asked is be cause the 25 wouldn't fit.
So I thought maybe the .2 less maybe able to fit it.

Also thanks for your help :)
