Universal bios questions-Metal Slugs

I have version 2.1 and I experiencing some problems. The first is, that when I set my metal slug games to Japanese/Euro home mode, the characters can't shoot, jump, or throw grenades. The other issue is that I can't get any red blood on any of my slug games even though the bios is Japanese. Red blood was the main reason I got this. So what could be wrong? I thought the Japanese versions didn't have white blood.

This may be my ignorance speaking, but don't you have to turn on red blood in the soft dip?

I've had weirdness like that happen before. What worked for me was cleaning the cart contacts. In Metal Slug 1 when I set the region to US I couldn't insert coins. After I cleaned the cart w/ alcohol everything worked perfectly.

I dunno, worth a shot for ya.

Your right, but I thought the blood was automatic when played in Japnese/Euro modes. I don't have easy access to my dip switches. That's why I got the Universal Bios.

turn on the machine while holding down start+B+C+D. That'll let you get to the softdips (unless you have arcade protect mode on...)

Just to make sure I'm reading correctly. By holding CBD, I can access the soft dipswitches that control blood on/off just as if I was going to use the hard dips? How do I know if the arcade protect mode is on and how do I access that? Finally, does anyone know why I can't use my action buttons when the games are set to console mode for the Japanese/Euro version? Is it just an issue with the universal bios? Razz, any thought?

The situation here is mentioned in the known problems section of the manual. This situation happens when the game is first run in MVS mode and then AES mode after. Basically it does not set up the controls correctly. All you need to do is go into the options menu (after pressing start) and set up the buttons manually.

The blood seting is in the soft dips as mentioned before, youll need to use the code to get into test mode to set that up.

I did read that some time ago. I just didn't follow what it said too well. Thanks as always.
