This may or may not belong in this forum section, but anyway...

If you look in the data folder of Samurai Shodown V for Xbox there are 4 files:

SSG.xwb
SSG.xsb
SSG_J.xwb
SSG_J.xsb

The _J.* files are for the Japanese announcer. Remove the _J from the last two files and rename or delete the original SSG.* files.

Works without a hitch!

Yeah, if you have a modded xbox.

Which means... No XBL play.

Not only the voices, text too. Many ppl prefer the game in jap even if it's an XBox conversion of the game.

Btw, I prefer & it's better to play SSV Special, it's more complete & the MVS cart only exists in jap.

Yeah thats a totaly cool mod for SSV. The english just sounds like poop. Also, when I play my SSVS cart on the MVS I always play in jap text. The graphics look so much better for "victory" and "round XX" etc. They take up the entire screen rather than like 250x50 pixels.

English text with original Japanese announcer. Xbox SSV has a new crappy English announcer ala SVC:Chaos port. The only way to get the original Japanese announcer is to set the Xbox to Japanese language, which will also make all the in-game text Japanese. With the above mentioned technique you get the best of both worlds.

No it doesn't even have a story mode. I didn't know the full xbox version did, I might have to check it out.

@Azathoth :

I 've backuped my SS5 XBox conversion & I noticed this :

in cg10 folder : you 'll find the files p1.bin 512 Kb, p2.bin 512 Kb, p3.bin 7 Mb, P1_J.bin 512 Kb, P2_J.bin 512 Kb, P3_J.bin 7 Mb. If you rename P1_J.bin, P2_J.bin & P3_J.bin into p1.bin, p2.bin & p3.bin you should be able to launch the game in japanese version.

Btw, you 'll notice there's a file named fix.bin 128 Kb (possibly the text layer) & neo-geo.rom (matching sp-s2.sp1 BIOS) in cg10 folder too.

If you're wanting to go full on Japanese version, you can also just set your Xbox language to Japanese at the dashboard. This works for unmodded systems also.
