hey,
I have an old 68cm (29") Panasonic TV, model number: TC2970V
When I turn the TV on when I havent used it for a while there are big grey lines on the screen that move around and then after about 2-3 mins the grey lines are no where to be seen and it's all good.

Is this an easy problem to fix?

HAHAHAHA What a ripoff... I guess that was on the screen AFTER you try to set up the login ID. I never got that far.

This is the problem, it doesn't want to show those lines anymore.
I don't know if it's just the temperature keeping the CRT warm or if the TV has fixed itself.

Maybe it was just getting these big dynamic gray stripes on the screen because the CRT wasn't getting used often?
I'll post a picture of the gray stripes when it occours...I think the weather isn't letting the CRT cool down fully as this problem only happens when it hasn't been used for a while and the CRT is cold.

Finally encountered the gray lines on the single channel that isn't used, channel 1.

As you can see it either covers the whole screen or shows up in small horizontal lines.
What do you think would cause this and can it be fixed?

Yep I gotta admit I'm with Toddy on that one, LCD's are great for their smaller footprint and lesser weight, but for standard res 2D gaming the scanlines on a traditional CRT really smoothes out the visuals. Not only is it the way it always was before the advent of modern LCD technology, but it just plain looks better for low resolution stuff ;)
