Gamecube display problem

Hopefully someone here can help me with this. Basically, my Gamecube plays fine and has no mechanical problems, however for some unknown reason the picture began having feint vertical lines on it about a week ago. Anyone know what may cause this? I already tested the video cable from my Nintendo 64 with the GC with the same result so I know this isn't the problem. Thanks in advance for any help I may receive.

I think it's possible that the graphics processor may be overheating, or it may have been damaged from being overheated. Does the problem start immediately when you start to play, or does it start after playing for some time?

Check to make certain the fan is working, and that the system isn't clogged with dust (open it up, if posslble, and clean the insides with compressed air), although it seems the system does a good job of keeping itself clean.

The fan is definitely worth checking as a first step. If it's not spinning, it probably needs to be replaced, and it would likely be contributing to your problem.

I'll give cleaning a try...it starts right away when playing, not over a period of time.

Sounds like the damage is already done then, and it very well may not be worth fixing, unless you can get a good motherboard somewhere else (maybe from a system with another type of problem) and swap out the motherboard. I'd say the problem is likely on the motherboard.
