I tried my supergun out on this monitor and all I got was a crazy image. I tried it out with all my games and was only able to get a somewhat viewable image with Ketsui. Now on the other hand it tried it out with my PS2 and it was fine. Any thoughts as to why it wont work with the neobitz?

Either its the monitor or you might be crossing wires in your Neobitz. Try checking the connections again. Mine works perfectly on anything I hook it up to.

What input are you using? If you're not using the RGB input I suggest you try it as it supports both interlaced and progressive display.

Other than that it might just be some feature that the monitor has that needs to be shut off like the "HDCP"

Ray_7 is having a similar problem with using a similar supergun as Spike's. His thread on the Atomiswave here details that.

I want to mention though that this problem seems to only be with some LCD TVs. I have had no problems with CRTs or even large HD DLP screens.

I get a crazy ass garbled/static-ey "picture". I should have taken a picture when I tested it out.

Just to clear things up my super gun works just fine with my crt tate TV so its not a wiring issue. And component video from my PS2 worked great with the monitor I used (Gateway 21" LCD computer monitor)

I really want to get a smallish LCD TV to use for my computer monitor/gaming tv so I need to find one it'll work with.

*Oh and Dean I got my Progear PCB back so I can send that out to you at any time now.

Lets face SG's & LCD's don't mix.
I was just going to say the same thing. In fact I would go even further and say its not even so much the supergun but more about the refresh rate of the game used being incompatable with the LCD. Chances are a different arcade game system rigged up using the same supergun could work fine.

I'm running my supergun on a 26" Bravia XBR and it looks great. Using component cables (Neo-Bitz encoder) the picture's fine. Tried out ST-V, CPS2, MVS, PGM & AW.. all work as good as on my old CRT.

I guess it's just picky about the brand.

When I was using my Sigma Raijin & Naomi 2 with my LCD, I had to use vga on the Naomi as RGB was out of sync.

P.S Raz, hows the weather there, my Dads flight from Gothenburg in Sweden was snowed in yesterday & he had to come back today!

Good to know Charles.

I literally just got through meeting with ray_7 whom had problems with Atomiswave, the NeoBitz supergun, and LCD and CRT and we found it was the Atomiswave motherboard itself! He's on his way back to test the new mobo on his LCD.

I had that (the 26" one at least) for a few days.. it did work w/ my SG. But no VGA on Atomiswave. Decided to upgrade to the Bravia in hopes that the AW's hi-res might work (it still doesn't), but at least I got a cable card slot now :D

If you have a Tweeter or Myer Emco around you, they'll let you bring in the SG to test it out.

I was wondering, the ones having problems with the video display are you by chance have the same common ground connect to all video and audio jacks? Or do you have the audio grounded seperatley? If you have them all grounded together the audio could produce interference.

The superguns being discussed here in this thread (and the Atomiswave thread) have been built by myself and I take care to ground all outputs separately. The audio is separate as are each of the video signal outputs, so there is no interference/crossover. It is a legit concern, but the issues here are TV related, not from the supergun as you can tell by all of the issues being TV specific.

Sorry I couldn't reply sooner -- been out of town since Thursday.

I haven't looked a lot into this but I believe, as Raz mentioned, that it has to do with the TV not liking signals that are not a perfect 60hz refresh rate, so this all goes down to the arcade board(s) themselves.

Since the Neo's refresh rate is 59.something, if your TV doesn't allow a slight variance, it may not work.

This is why some arcade boards work better than others.

In the past, I have tried several LCDs from various manufacturers, and overall achieved great results. I have one other LCD that someone pointed me to that didn't like the signal (Polaroid 15" LCD).

This will probably be true of all transcoder type devices unless they have some sort of frame buffering to fix the display at 60Hz. As far as I know, there are no RGB encoders that do this as the solution would be rather costly -- my encoder just passes the SYNC along, as do a couple others I've seen, so you may need something more on the scale of an XRGB device, which still may not fix the problem either.

The mid-90's Midway games are another hard case because they use a 53/54Hz refresh rate, which is pretty far from the standard 59.94 NTSC rate.
