Does anyone here have experience with shooter cabs? I am really looking to get a mounted gun style cab (operation wolf, beast busteres ect) but I am interested in swapping boards out on the cab. Is it possible to swap other mounted gun boards? Just wondering if anyone has tried to do this.

Thanks

Most older gun games aren't interchangeable for several reasons. Even if it was a simple board swap, the guns/controls are usually unique to the game. Newer games like Area 51, Max Force, Police Trainer, Egg Venture, etc. are all JAMMA so most of them can be interchanged with a few modifications. I think games like Lethal Enforcer and Point Blank (Gun Barrel) have the inversed picture tube. You actually see the screen in a mirror reflection so these aren't directly interchangeable with the other JAMMA shooters I mentioned.

well there are two types of mounted gun games.. analogue and lightgun type..

older games tend to just be analogue (like a joystick, alien the Gun is a good example of analogue only), but some newer games use lightgun type technology aswell (operation wolf 3 for example).

as long as you keep to either one your only problem should be making adapters for the boards to fit your cab (since theyre not generally jamma compatible)...

..does that make any sense :P its not impossible at all to do, but will require some mild soldering and electronics skills :)

sven666 you make perfect sense. I just didn't want to steer demirichris in the wrong direction. Yes the boards can be easily hooked up but the controls would be a different story. As I mentioned the controls are somewhat unique. You're correct that games like Operation Wolf use analog controls to determine where you fire on the screen. While all these operate the same way in terms of controls, you'll probably need to have different control panels for each game. I wouldn't rule out making modifications to a gun/controls but overall it sounds like the trouble would be more than it's worth. IMHO the gun, unique controls really makes the game.

All this time I thought they just fell into the jamma standard and use light tech to aim. Really I just thought having a shooter cab would be lots of fun. I may still be interested as their is an auction coming to indy, if they have one for cheap.
