For her birthday, I chipped in to buy my sis a DS with Mario Kart. The first one had two dead pixels (she opened it up when we got home, what a pain to drive out there again) and the second time her mom got it for her I think. This one had 4 dead pixels and the screen was scratched, something I found really odd. Both of them were from Best Buy.

Just saying the DS must surely have its fair share of dead pixels, not just the PSP.

I've never seen dead pixels in a DS, but I've heard of it happening (it's very rare though).

Maybe that shipment was dropped or something... :/ :spock:

As mentioned before, I own 5 DS systems and none of them have any dead pixels. Of course I do not own the Mario Kart DS though.

Sorry...I wasn't very clear. I do have Mario Kart DS (two copies) I just don't have the Mario Kart DS system. I thought that he had the Mario Kart DS bundle but after reading the post again, it was a DS with Mario Kart. (This is my first attempt at reading)

I don't have high speed where I live. Although I am looking at moving in the next month or so and will be in place that has high speed. I am looking forward to racing against some of you all.

I'm just curious is your 5 DS systems all US or Japanese version?

Two of the system are Japanese. (Black and Pink) and the other three are USA. (Blue, Silver, Silver)

I own 6 DS systems and none of them have any dead pixels. My PSP has 1 but it doesnt bother me. A DS that I sold to a member up here did happen to have 1 dead pixel and it was the Mario Kart Bundle system so those might be the problem.

Ah, to make it clearer, we got a regular DS (she chose the blue color) because they were out of the Mario Kart bundles. I bought the game separately.

Every DS has 2 big fucking dead pixels, gauranteed.

No kidding? "Guaranteed" huh?

My DS doesn't have any. Not even 1 of the "big fucking" kind either.

Yea thats mine :(

They are very rare working in retail I see very few come back, I've seen a few of the UK Mario Kart Packs with them though (about 4 in 300 units maybe) they are rare but unfortunately when there is one its VERY noticable, especially bright coloured ones like red on mine.

Theres definately less about, not a major problem, and the ones we replace here in the UK get faulty'd right away, wouldn't sell them on..

The differance is that if your DS has dead pixels Nintendo will replace it no questions asked. Try that from SONY. They wont do shit.

My PS2 had a big DRE prob last year, I called up SCEA and they fixed it for free. Of course the fuckers took a month and a half, but eh.

Sony may not have a picture of mechanic Mario on the back of their manuals, but call em up and I'd bet they'll fix it for no charge.

Nintendo's stuff will always be the most durable and capable, my NES from 20 years ago still works today, who knows how long it'll take for a PS2 to crap out forever.

I got my DS for Christmas.
It has one stuck pixel in the top screen.
I say stuck instead of dead cos it is displaying A colour instead of just sitting their blackened out.
I don't notice it during gameplay unless I stop and look for it...In fact I did not notice it for 2 or 3 days after I got it.
Still debating weither or not to return it.
Mine came from GameStop.

i was referring to the 2 screens. Theyre both just big fucking dead pixels to me. Since every DS comes with 2 screens, your guaranteed to get a DS with 2 big fucking dead pixels.

I should have drawn a diagram.

Not very long! I have a launch PS2 system, and it's been trying to croak off for quite some time now. You practically have to do a crazy voodoo "good luck" dance to get it to read a DVD, and when it does, the audio level is so low that you have to jam your TV's volume up to the max just to hear it.

Not to mention the video port in the back has been getting progressively more unstable. The video signal tends to flicker regularly nowadays.

The sad thing is, Sony has a generally good reputation of designing quality hardware. The problem is, they also have a reputation of charging a lot of money for their stuff. They know that people won't spend $699 on thier consoles, so to keep costs down they use cheap parts for their gaming machines. I guess they figure that people will simply buy another PS2 after it falls apart in 3 or so years.

(yeah I don't need the image.)

Larry, I still don't get it.

As for the great pixel debate, I don't care for that much, I don't shit in my pants like most of ya, if it's in middle of my screen or in the unnoticable corners, I just play to play. If it annoys you that much you shouldn't be playing games, fucking nit-pickers. Excuse me I gotta play my DS or PSP with black screens with the power on.

aloha at the top of 4 in the morn,
M-A-D :glee:
