First off, i'd need to gauge interest. If your from the states and are interested please post in this thread. The rough details are as follows:
I've been corresponding with and amusement dealer from Australia who has (indirectly) a very large supply of CyberLead cabs that they get directly from Namco.
All cabinets are in very good used condition. All are 2 player each with 6 bottons. All have the dual res 29" monitor and are all wired JAMMA standard. All you'd need is a MoBo.
Port of Delivery is Chicago. Naturally, price depends on how many units are ordered. But i was told a full 40' container of these (approx. 60 units  ) would cost $415 each and shipping would be $75 for each. A 20' container of them (approx 28 units) would cost $450 each plus the $75 for S&H each.
I was thinking if (among a fehw web sites) I could garner interest from approx 20-25 people the cost sould be fairly close to the $525 each.
I specifically asked about any other cost that might not have been mentioned. The $525 per unit would bring them directly from Namco of Japan to the Port of Chicago.
Quoted from vendo- "All machines will be 2 player machines and the only additional costs
would be the local USA costs (cost to pickup the container from the
depot/delivery, unpacking and any taxation you need to pay). Generally
speaking the cabinets will all be the same except maybe there will be some
differences in the button layout. With this we can make a request to
have same buttons or can order extra buttons to make the machines
complete."
As far as the local costs, i'm looking into that.

And that's where I'm at with this. Reply if possibly interested.

thanks

I am very interested. Are you the person that was going to import these cabs in from Japan a couple of months ago?

I live close enough to Chicago to come and pick it up myself. Would I be able to check it out in action before I bought it?

Please keep us posted as to any new info you get. If you can get these in for $525, you can mark me done for a sure sale.

Nice looking cabs

I would confirm the CRT specs before proceeding :spock: , if these cabs are set up for the Australian market the crt colour purity will be shite in North America. If they are domestic Japanese models there should be no problem. (110-240 volts may also be an issue)

With TVs and monitors there are usually three manufacturers crt options, northern hemisphere, southern or equatorial. Moving from one hemisphere to the other will almost certainly cause noticable purity errors (it has nothing to do with degaussing, but the alignment of the crt)

We got a 20 "container of TVs (about 160 pcs) destined for the Vietnamese market one time, in PNG which is just south of the equator, the colour purity on each was lousy. I had to adjust the purity and convergence on each one and to be honest some were only bearly acceptable.

Tubes for all Nations

(From: Jeroen Stessen, (stessenj@am.umc.ce.philips.nl))

CRT Manufacturers actually make different versions of their tubes for
TV's for the northern and southern hemisphere, and sometimes a 3rd neutral
type. These are so-to-say precorrected for the uncompensated field. (Note
that the term 'tube' here includes much of the convergence hardware as
well - not just what is inside the glass.)

Interestingly it doesnt actually follow the equator, see the flux map below.

Didn't another member try this also? In fact, I think a few have, but so far, nothing has really come to light. Whatever happen to those deals? Because back then, people were interested and they still are at this point. $525 is a damn nice price though...

Here is the old one: http://neo-geo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=132329&highlight=Namco+CYberlead

I know on the last one the guy was already taking deposits and said he had like 15 people already preordered.

I thought about doing but couldnt bring myself to commit for a couple of reasons. You have no idea about the condition of the cab you are getting or when you will get it. I know when i contacted he guy who was previously doing it he had no way of showing which cab you were buying or even a screen of all the cabs so you could see the general condition. Plus this is a large project where we knew the cabs wouldnt arrive for months.

Even though he had good feedback and seemed like a trustworthy guy its hard to commmit a few hundered dollar deposit for a mystery item that you wont see for a long time.

edit @Borman's post below. That is what i was worried about. I know JayL is a trustworhty and will refund if he cant get the good ones but that is exactly why i did not commit to it. You invest wait and now no goods.

I would be interested as I'm only about a 5 hour drive from Chicago, but I'd have to have detailed pics of the product prior to purchasing.

I also doubt you will get enough pre-orders from just here. Have you tried any other classic\shooter\fighting forums?
