Ok,so I was at work today, and a young kid..I'd say about 11 or 12 had a psp.(Note they are about $250). He insisted on swinging it around by the handstrap..at which one point it flew into the counter and hit very hard on the screen. He had to of dropped it atleast 3 times, and kept playing with the disc eject button and popping the disc out and cramming it back in, at one time putting it in the wrong way. Why do parents buy their little brat kids such expensive shit, knowing that it will be destroyed a week later? The thing looked like it was COVERED in crumbs and grease, along with fingerprints and crud from food. It's a shame, the mother could of used that towards another shopping order for a week or something that she could of needed. The moral of the story is Brat kids do not deserve expensive things if they cant take care of it.

Yeah, I agree with you. A few days after Christmas I saw some brat with a brand new iPod Nano. I never got stuff like that when I was a kid.

as messed up as it may seem.... when I have a kid he will be decently deprived :glee:

I hate bratty kids... but its the parents fault too.

When it comes to the video game thing, I would rather my kid learn about the old school stuff first...so he can appreciate all games. It really grinds me to hear kids talk about current games, and have no clue about the origins.

Its like someone who listens to the pop radio station only, and never the oldies / classic rock ... you have no point of comparison to fully appreciate either

I freaking love Lego's too. I don't play with them anymore, but I still display my Return of the Jedi battle scene. The rest are in a box in my closet. Only thing I hated is that I always lost pieces.

Little brats deserve DSs - better games (more kiddy games), less expensive, and can take a beating.

First off, Legos will always be the shit, and teach creativity 10 times better than most modern video games ever could... (you know the brats dont like edutainment, they just want grand theft auto) As far as the kid having a PSP, his parents spobably spoil him and would get him another even if it did break, but if I was a parent with a shitload of money I'd still get the brat a GBA... its not like they're not still making good games for it. On second thought I would just probably take the kids PSP away to work with me and tell him I broke it, give him a GBA, and kept the PSP for myself to teach the little shit a lesson. :shame:

Little kids should not have expensive handhelds? You don't expect me to steal them from someone bigger than me, surely?

Little kids don't need expensive items because they will destroy them in no time. :(

I would like to get my 6 year niece a Nintendo DS handheld for her 7th birthday and track down some Disney games like Magical Quest 1,2&3, Aladdin, Disney's Princess, Disney's Cinderella: Magical Dreams GBA games etc. ;)

Well IMO age does not determine the destructive force a child can inflict upon a handheld. it just depends on the kid, my 12 year old brother treats his stuff with the utmost care and gets freaked out if somethign of his even has a scratch on it. so if i can not find a trade for my psp i might pass it on to him.

It don't matter it's not your money thats being thrown around, dropped and what have you. :chimp:

Besides fucking stuff up is what little kids, teenagers do the best. If it was your car well thats a different matter.

Don't forget Lincoln Logs.

For as long as I've been a gamer, I've always been neat with my systems and handhelds...when I was younger, if I took it with me to a restuarant, I'd wash my hands first.

Had the PSP been out when I was little, chances are I would've had one and it'd still be pristine. It's not all kids, just a nice chunk who don't see the difference between a $300 piece of electronics and a $6 action figure. But really what does it matter? Chances are that a parent who has the $250+ to spend on a PSP for their child who has probably destroyed most of his possessions isn't worried about having the money for groceries.

Although I am firmly against the "more kiddie games on DS" argument, the DS is far better for smaller children as it has only 1 moving part: the screen. Everything else is screwed down and padded with some shielding and about 2mm of empty space. Those things are durable.

well i think its normaly that little kids cant know the vallue of things or most of them it depends on how parents educate them.if they parents got enough and know what they do its ok when i remind right i destroyed some shit 2 xD hm thats kind of normal its ok when parents give their children expensive stuff and know it could break and when its broke they dont be mad at the kid but if the give them expensive stuff and they think they handle it like and adult its their faut ... and they shouldnt be mad at it xD i hope u see the point which i mean .. :P :loco:

I was showing my cousin's children my psp not too long after I got it. Ridge Racer if I remember correctly. There all watching it when all of a sudden the youngest boy swings at it with a die cast toy car and hits the screen! Luckily it didnt seem to make a mark.

I remember when I got my Game Boy Color. Plenty old enough to know better... but to prove a point I threw it as hard as I could at a brick wall and let it land on the stone tiles. Why? Because someone dissed Nintendo build quality. My DS has been dropped several times (largely not by me) and played catch with. I'm scared to handle my PSP. That's why I'm relisting it on Craigslist. Or maybe not. I can't decide, but the fact that it's been in its box for three weeks after I got it ready for a dude who backed out of the sale says a lot.

That is exactly my feelings as well. If my kids are interested in video games I'm going to school them in the history by making them play games from the Atari on up. But if they don't care about games... that just means more for me to play. As of now my daughter carrys my controllers all over the place. Except for my Neo controllers. Mainly because I keep them out of her reach.

last week a mom came in because her kiddo couldn't play their
psp because it needed a system update.
and some dumb teenager was like.
is that a psp i hear?
when we switched it on.
some dumb irony.
and he stuck around for about 5 minutes telling me and the other guy
working there that he couldn't wait to get one.
wtf.
shut up son.
the amount of people that come in with kids looking for psps are pretty much up there
but they never consider how much it is, how much the games are,
blah blah blah
blah
blah
blah
blah.
i dislike privileged kids.
what the fuck did they do to deserve a 250 dollar system with 50 dollar games
other than whining to their parents like little bitches.

Exactly!!!

I used to own a new and used videogame shop, The kids were not only annoying, they also used make out that they know everything about games/consoles/handhelds, even more than me! Interupting when I was telling the parents about charge times, batteries and other requirements.

Fuck off! I was playing games before you were even a drip in your daddys salami!!

About 2 days later, the parents would come and ask for a refund, because little jimmy couldn't play the games as he was still technically a fetus and has to be carried in a bag of womb juice at all times LOL :kekeke:
