Hey, all,

Well, much like the other guy who bought a AW, and, lacking a home for it, put it in his big red, I have a problem.

For me, the colours are totally messed up. Everything looks gray; the blacks are gray, the whites are gray, you get the idea. On top of that, the colours bleed like crazy.

Now, when the brief little 'Sammy' logo appears, none of this happens. Weird.

Have I got it hooked up wrong or something? Please help, I'm a total noob who has no idea what he's doing when it comes to arcade hardware. Thanks.

Try flipping dip switch 1 to the other direction. You may have it in 31Khz mode instead of 15Khz.

Naw, that's not the problem. It just makes the picture all wavy when I switch to 31Khz. I would've thought I wanted it in low-res mode anyway.

Man, this is really putting me off in the meantime. The image is just terrible.

Oh, and by the by, in high-res mode, the screen is wavy like I said, but the colour problems persist. C'mon techies, I'm looking in your direction. ;)

Are your R, G, and B lines shorted together? Is your monitor's contrast up enough?

This is extremely unlikely, because when I have a MVS hooked up, I have no problems at all.

Curiouser and curiouser...

Is there a separate control for the contrast on the AW mobo itself, come to think of it? That wouldn't explain the colour bleeding, but... Hm.

I'm really stuck with this one, guys. Clearly, something is connected right, otherwise the image would be messed up during the bootup sequence. But to have it messed up afterward...

I checked the systems configuration on the mobo, too, just to see that it wasn't the game. The only thing I haven't done is load it up with no game.

I really want to enjoy this thing, so any help would really make my day. Anyone?

That's not unlikely at all, it is exactly what you get when there isn't enough resistance in the RGB lines: the AW picture goes nuts while the MVS (and many other arcade boards) would be OK. Tweak those RGB pots.

Okay, clearly I'm even more of a goof when it comes to this stuff than I thought. I thought I might be able to figure some of it out, but...

Anyway, I had a look at the jamma harness, and the lines all look fine to my admittedly untrained eye. How would I go about tweaking the RGB? Would I have to attach resistors to the lines or something?

Better yet, is there a place I could get these instructions? I feel like a moron asking these noob questions.

I know this won't be of too much help, but if you do a search, you'll see that Atomiswaves have this thing where the output a much different color signal than most other pcbs. Many have said that they had to adjust their monitors and so on to compensate for it.... hope this helps you in any way.

Fair enough. It does look like it could easily be fixed by adjusting the colour switches and whatnot.

Now for the ultimate noob question: I've never had the need to do this on the big red before. Where are these switches located, if there are any? They must be there, it seems weird that there could be a cab without 'em. I'll look on my own, but once more, I'll appreciate any help thrown my way.
