I'm interested in wiring an extension to the volume control on a 4 slot motherboard and was wondering if anyone had any wiring info handy about the volume slider. I played around with the volt meter but am not sure exactly how the slider is doing it's job -- it did occur to me that i could just detach the slider from the board and extend all it's connections, but I guess I'd rather avoid such a drastic step if possible.

Use a standard single gang pot rated at least 15K. For volume control, terminal 1 is normally connected to ground, terminal 2 (wiper) is connected to the output and terminal 3 is the input.

Considering a 4-slot is stereo and uses 1k pots it wouldn't be a bad idea to use a 1k dual-gang pot...

I totally forgot that MVS-4 is stereo. Make sure you get a dual gang pot like MKL stated.
