Chat between Xbox360 and Xbox, Can it be done?

My friend and I were trying this and it would not work. He has an Xbox and I have an Xbox360. We cannot get the Chat feature to work between the two. Is this option compatible between the Xbox and the 360? We can hear eachothers voice messages, but not being able to chat sucks. Any help would be great. Thank you!

I don't think so, I get Halo 2 messages from people with it.

Is there a chat mode in Halo 2? Have you tried that?

Nope, not that I'm aware of.

I think the Chat Feature is only 360 to 360. Seems you can't do it with the Xbox 1 Games or with the Xbox 1 and the 360. That sucks! You should be able to just chat even if you are not playing games. It says in the manual that one person can be watching a DVD and the other playing a game, but as long as you are online you can chat. I will have to call and complain to MS.

I think it's the Xbox side that stopping that from happening. That complaint might be good. That could possibly get them to update Xbox Live to accomodate old Xbox to 360 communications. Otherwise, you'd have to whip out the old Xbox to do it.

Just use halo2 if you both have it.
