Here it is as I said I would do it.I tried to keep it as clean as possible for you guys.
I only did this for the R2N as I love Crazearcades RGB encoder. Its topnotch, and Crazearcade is very reliable with wonderful customer service and extremely fast shipping time.

Well, IMO, and not just because the other one was mine, lol :p ....this one just doesn't lay everything on the table like the other one. I think you should have drawn everything out. RCA jacks, some buttons, switches, etc.. The problem with most supergun layouts (the 2-3 out there) is that the people think that newb supergun makers have the basic knowledge of parts etc and don't actually physically show where most wires go.

I think it's better to show someone what to do instead of just telling them with pictures of parts.

Just my opinion.....

I revised it,so here you go.The R2N area already shows how to wire up a s-video port. The only other thing I could do basically is take step by step photos which Im not going to do.Im not going to hold anyones hand on this one.If you have no experience in doing soldering, and some electronic skills and the ability to read a simple diagram and understand it,honestly then you should NOT be doing a project like this,as this is NOT something a first timer should be trying to pull off.Its much harder then just doing simple region mod switches on a Sega Saturn.Basically if you cant understand the diagrams,or dont feel comfortable, then buy one from me or any seller on ebay.Building one can take anywhere from 4-9 hours, depending on what all you plan to install and use.If anyone feels like it they can freely improve on mine if they have something to offer,as this should be a group project anyway, and shouldnt be about a bunch of dead beats wanting one person to do all the work then bitching about the quality of the diagram.Nothing is perfect and everything is always open to improvment.

I tried to keep this a clean diagram too,as I said that was what I was going to do,and that it would be in mono and very basic. So yes I did not draw a bunch of colored lines all over the place,as it is easier to keep it clean by saying "this goes to that".The harness area is fully labeled,as is the R2N.Anyone with some know how should be able to figure it out easily, but like I said,if you can improve it,please feel free to do so.Also include your name in the improvements.

I think NGT's diagram was very informing but too messy, and didnt show the jamma harness as it should be shown, but he covered the stereo/test switch and other aspects that I did not,so for those you would have to fall back on his for sure.Anyones best bet is to keep both of ours on hand,or combine both of ours somehow, which I more then welcome.I know that D-Lite,the guy alot of guys on here prob love and on pcenginefx love for sure builds them, and has a how to,but his is broken, and basically is more of a parts list then anything else.He sells them, but his asking price is way out there considering the quality he offeres. He doesnt include arcade sticks, and asking price is about $250-300 if I remember right.

That just is not worth it in my opinion,as Massystems builds and sells a very high quality one for around that price with arcade sticks included.I can build and sell them with arcade sticks of some type for around $150-200.The cheapest method is to always build your own,to fit your needs, but if you dont feel comfortable doing this, then you can always purchase one from D-Lite,myself,Mass,GWT,or get one of the UK based Mak ones without a ntsc encoder.

Don't take my comments the wrong way. I think the revised one is better then the un-revised one, no doubt. IMO, anyone with little to no soldering experience can make one of these. They aren't rocket science, which is what my diagram was meant to show. There's nothing hard about it. My girl made me some neo to mas supernova controller ports converters her first time picking up a soldering iron. You can always buy a ready jamma harness and cut your wire soldering in half. I had not done much soldering at all and my first supergun worked 100% on first powerup. If someone has intermediate soldering and electronic skills, they would most likely be able to figure it out with pinout sheets and a parts list anyways.

I do appreciate your effort. I like the Jamma harness layout on page. Good idea there.

It is unconceivable that this diagram says to use jamma L for grounding sound.

MKL,
L is not listed as the ground for audio, you read it wrong. If using those types of cords for composite, you have to use the outter area for ground on the R2N.Cant you read lol :loco:
NGT
When I said messy I meant that there was alot of curved lines and stuff crossing over each other.Granted yours is colored so its fine, but not as straight, and as you said,if your a noob, reading that can be hard to do,having to go step by step.I usually look at something then just do it off the visual image in my head.I knew of yours a while back as soem people told me they used it,and it did fine for them, but they did have that complaint, but as we all agree, there is not enough of these to go around, nor is there any "perfect" ones out there.

I expect then that a lazy bastard such as yourself can and will do one better in a days time for us then?I started on this one at 12 noon today and finished at time I posted revision. Can you do better?

In your drawing you call the wire connected to the outer part of the audio RCA plug "negative" and you add that "for composite audio connect to L on the Jamma harness". The fact is that the outer part of the corresponding female audio jack on your TV or receiver is ground so when the cable is plugged in you're shorting Jamma L and ground, WHICH IS BAD. Jamma L should not be used at all, unless the supergun has its own speakers.

Your mistake is based on the lack of understanding that the amplifiers on TVs/stereo receivers are fundamentally different from those on Jamma boards, which are bridged amplifiers. Read this to know something about it, esp. page 2:

Actually I dont run the audio out into a TV monitor.I have a Emerson speaker with a female jack wired up,that I plug it into, not into the tv,as its amplified audio, nor did I list it as "composite audio FOR TV's or stereo recievers".Its definatly a no-no.You make a good point.Like I said again though,Im not going to list all the info on there,or take everyone by the hand.Im going to assume that because your running jamma, and amplified audio, and mono which my diagram is for, that your going to use a single speaker.Im going to assume you understand how jamma works, how arcade pcbs work.

Its listed as"composite OR audio" jack, with a picture of a composite style RCA jack.Composite jacks are the most commonly used for 2 wire connections, but there are many others.I just used the most common around the house part to use to get you fast easy access on a speaker without having metal wire hanging out.Not everyone will wire up a female RCA style port for that matter on a speaker, and shoul dbe fully encouraged to use their own type that suites them best.I dont like listing it as a "RCA" jack because some people wont know that term outside of the US.
Your right,I should have been more specific on that, but as I said, you guys are more then welcome to correct it with a photoshop editor or something and repost it.
I def understand how TVs/stereo receivers are fundamentally different from those on Jamma boards, and I am going to assume that anyone with"knowhow" will know the same.
Like I said, there is no "audio to TV output" listed on my diagram. If you'd like to change it or go into specifics then please do so and repost it,as that might be helpful to someone.Like I said, nothing is perfect.

just wondering...why did you make this? recognition? if so, you might want to make one thats geared towards what the majority of supergun makers will want....arcade games on your tv like a console of sort. Also, why make something like this if you aren't willing to help people through the process?

LOL. Isn't that diagram something "for dummies"? Come on... it's clearly aimed at super n00bs who have no clue. Someone who understands how jamma/PCBs work definitely won't need it.
As for the audio thing, you say "I don't run...I have... I plug... I..." as if that diagram was made to fit your own needs and not those of the people who want to build a supergun. And the vast majority of them will want to have sound from their TV/stereo receiver, which is only understandable (at least NGT's diagram showed an attenuation circuit for this purpose). And in any case someone who sees that diagram cannot know the things that you're writing now. Face it: as it is it's not only not useful but also misleading.

As I said, and you fuck heads dont seem to read,YOU being all of YOU who wish to add, fix, change, edit, improve upon are fully able to do so and are freely able to on here AND post AND take credit.I FULLY STATED this one was going to be basic, and the revised was ONLY because NGT wanted more parts pics I assumed from one of his comments.
If I did this for recognization, cared for you to really know who the fuck I am,Id list my god damn home address, phone number, pic of my face, collection of games, computers, and so on.I offered this up,and now you all bitch and whine like babies instead of fixing what you think needs to be improved.Fucking idiots.
This was only to help give some information, and to show how I do it.YUP ME,not YOU ! ! ! I SHARED IMFORMATION ONLY ON HOW I DO MINE AND I KEPT IT BARE AND BASIC!
Did I say anywhere on there that MY way of doing things is the standard, nope, did I say mine is flawless,or perfect, nope, did I say even once mine is the best way of doing things,or the only way????? NOPE FUCKING AGAIN. I DID SAY I'D DO A CLEAN ONE, AND I DID ONE!
Im becoming more under the assumption you guys are ungratful fuckwits, and more or less uneager to improve on something,or do something as a group effort.
Wether its laziness, ungratefulness,or just you guys being asswipes,Im not impressed.Id think that on here that if you guys "care" so much about noobs, you mprove on it then,as its much more spacy and flexible then NGT's diagram,or do a new one your fucking self. His as it was does not look easy to change or modify,as lines overlap and everything is very tight, otherwise Id just have added to his.I also gave him credit where credit is due,he did go into more detail about "how to" stereo sound, test switch and so on.If he cares to add it to mine,or anyone else does, then they can freely do so.I have fully said over and over again you all may do as you wish to improve it and give YOURSELF credit,so long as you please share it on here for OTHERS.I said in the other thread that mine would be clean, and basic, and for mono set-ups with R2N encoders.
I dont remember any of you saying no,dont bother,we dont want that,or anything along those lines. You think I enjoy spending the afternoon infront of the comp doing a paint program and editing?I got news for you, untill today,I had not used paint anything since Windows 9fucking5. I did this because it seemed like you all wanted one on the other thread that was a little more clean, and Im not the only fucking one here,NGT,MKL,beh3moth.
NGT,if you dont fucking like it,do another one of YOUR own, that YOU feel is better,or improve mine, whichever, untill then, shut the flying fuck up.

MKL,so far I dont see you offering shit, doing one yourself and posting it,or editing mine and improving it,so either help,do one here yourself,or fuck off.Your only desperatly trying to be a asshole, and NGT in his self-centeredness is joining in on shitting on mine instead of offering to change or improve it or doing a better one of his own that is cleaner and easier to read.

beh3moth,your just fucking retarded. All you could offer up was"it looks like poop".
Out of all post I have read here or on pcenginefx,or even guru3d,that was the fucking lamest, sorriest, pointless post I have ever read.DO YOU HAVE A BETTER ONE TO POST HERE??? If so I dont see it anywhere.O wait, yours would probably only apply to the vast amount of PAL users only with scart,so why dont you make one for scart users???You dont need or use NTSC Im sure,so you dont have to include it on yours,o but wait,if you dont, asswipes will say yours "looks like
poop".So maybe you should'nt bother then right?

Also about the noob thing.Fuck off about it.Dont act liek you care about noobs now when on every other occasion you guys trash noobs left and right who come on these forums. The Neo forums are Known for this.
This does not mean that everyone here is like this, like Gummybear for instance, seems to be one of the nicest guys on here and free of scorning noobs or being a asswipe.Nor do I base the general population on here as to being how you guys are being now, cause if I did,I wouldnt even post here, just stick to pcenginefx and guru3d.Instead of helping anyone right now,esp noobs you supposedly care about, your doing shit, nothing, zilch.

Other supergun projects I have done.I try to buy up as many arcade style sticks with at least microswitch based joy sticks as possible. They are easier to wire-up.The 2 Pelican sticks I have turned into superguns are the best ones, and the Pc-Engine was the hardest. If you look close you can see the black female RCA cord and jack I used to hook-up to a speaker for mono out.I have used this method pretty much on everything, either by male or female cord wired up,and then wiring up a male or female RCA style cord to a speaker.
Not everyone does this, nor is it a requirement.
Also as I said before on the other thread, most of the boards I play that offer stereo have a stereo jack of some type or RCA style like on a Tekken 3 pcb onboard that insure I dont need stereo output from my superguns.I keep a cord made for NeoGeo MVS that fits the headphone out prongs on a 1-slot and had left and right RCA plugs for a stereo, and a earphone jack that can be plugged into pc speakers for stereo output too. That and I keep a long set of RCA stereo cables for a stereo for my Sony stereo reciever I use for stereo audio on Tekken 3 and so on.
As you can see from my supergun projects, you can tell they are not for everyone either.I like to keep it basic and cram alot into the smallest space as possible.Next up will be a City Boy 2 arcade stick supergun if its feasible to fit the encoder and most wiring into the first player stick.

It's funny how you write this and then post a bunch of pictures of your other superguns etc.. Also, you swear way too much. Anyways, I just think that people are going to see the title of your thread and then get confused when your layout is hard to read and not really what superguns are meant to be anyways.

Wooo there dude. I think you need to back up for a second and cool down a bit.

If you are going to write a "guide" then you need to make sure its well documented and also wrote for the least common denominator (aka folks hooking their superguns to their TV and/or stereos).

The comments made about your choice in hooking audio up are sound in that you need to take into consideration that most people are going to want to run the audio straight into their TV or their stereo systems. They are NOT going to want a seperate little speaker hooked straight up to their SG.

MKL made suggestions about how this should be done (and I 100% agree with them) and whilst sometimes he can be a bit "crass", he is easily one of the most technically minded individuals on this forum. He wants people to be educated about these matters in a way as to not spread misinformation or just plain bad advice.

If you are 100% sure that you know all there is to know or have ZERO interest in being educated in better ways to do stuff, than go ahead and click the "Log Out" at the top of the site.

On the other hand, if you want to help others and learn better ways to do things, then drop the over the top defensive attitude and be more of a team player.

The pics are to show that I do not make normal superguns, and to show I do know what Im doing.NOT to brag.If I wanted to brag Id show games,or expensive hardware, laser disc players, ect.I dont post pics of game collections or anything, because honestly it doesnt matter what games I own,or shouldnt to anyone, nor do I care what you guys own or dont own. Also I flat out told you ALL on the other thread that the diagram would be how I do them, not how everyone does them.MKL and NGT ARE NOT HELPING OR BEING INFORMING. Where is MKL's diagram? ? ? ?Whats he doing? ? ?,why not change and improve mine??? Same goes for NGT and anyone else.

If MKL is so god damn great why has he not done a really good supergun diagram himself? That would be informing.
If NGT thinks he can do better then his past effort, then why does'nt he?

All you guys are doing now is avoiding the point: If you think mine needs improvment then improve it,or do a completely new one on your own.I was being a team player when I created it and posted it.I gain nothing by doing so.I asked for nothing in return other then that if you improve it to share it with others. Also you guys were contradicting when saying it was too hard to read, then saying its aimed for noobs. Is it either easy for noobs to read and understand,or too hard?Which is it?

You guys are ignoring the facts.BTW Broken,its not a guide,its a diagram.
A guide is a step by step how to.A diagram has it all laid out at once.

I will only state this once more: THE ABOVE DIAGRAM IS HOW I, BEING ME, BUILD MY BASIC SUPERGUNS! IT IS NOT PERFECT,NOT FOR EVERYONE,AND IF YOU,BEING EVERYONE ELSE, WISH TO IMPROVE IT THEN PLEASE DO SO! I PUT THIS UP AS IS.CONSIDERING NO ONE ELSE OTHER THEN NGT HAS,AND FLAT OUT STATED HOW IT WOULD BE,YOU HAVE NO ROOM TO COMPLAIN!BEFORE YOU THINK OF COMPLAINING,DO ONE YOURSELF!
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY,IF YOU SEE MINE IS MISSING SOMETHING,INSTEAD OF BITCHING OR COMPLAING ABOUT IT,IF YOU COULD,PLEASE MODIFY THE DIAGRAM INSTEAD AND REPOST IT!

I really diddent want to get involved with this thread but I personally think its time for it to be deleted because its going way off base. MKL has given some great info to this forum, you just have to use the search option to see what I'm talking about. A prime example I can think of off the top of my head is the 4SLOT PCB connector pinouts. I think at least 5 people have fixed their 4SLOTs so far since that was posted a couple of months ago.

So I'm saying delete this thread and Amakusashiro666 start a new one and not to be so defensive towards suggested changes, at the end of the day you can learn alot from these guys. I certinally have, there are people here with far more electronic experiance than I can ever hope for.

I don't feel like editing and reposting that scheme. The only reason I posted here was to point out an incorrect or misleading piece of information contained in the scheme, so that people wouldn't run into problems by following it. I realize my first post ("It is inconceivable..." :eek_2: ) wasn't exactly the nicest way to do it, so I apologize for my "crass" manners. Having said that, you should also realize that someone who looks at your pic has no way to know that your idea is to connect the jamma audio pins directly to a speaker because that's just not shown. Rather, they are likely to assume they go to the TV or stereo receiver because of the RCA plug, which is the connector used for hooking up sound to TVs/stereo receivers. So my suggestion is to somehow split the diagram and show both types of connections so that users can choose the option that better suits their needs. When showing the connection to a speaker replace the RCA plug with a speaker symbol to avoid misunderstandings.
