I finaly got my supergun up and working yesterday (woohoo!!!!) Everything works great on it. The next step, how do I take the stereo sound comming off of the MV-1 4 pin connector and have it output to composite stereo jacks? Also, how do I take the 4 pin headphone output and wire it to a headphone jack? My final question, can I split the headphone jack so both players can use headphones if desired? I think thats all of my questions and concerns for now, I'll post more if more questions arise.

Thanks!
Bill

What I did was take a 4 pin connector from a AT power supply and use that as the connector and wired up the headphone jack from there. I don't see why you can't do 2 jacks with it though.

I no longer have a need to wire up headphone jacks as I found out the memory card reader that I'm going to purchase has 2 headphone jacks built into it. Now for the stereo -> RCA connector. How do I do this? I know there is Left sound, ground (2x) and Right sound, how do I wire them to RCA connectors so I can use my television's speakers? I know it can be done but I've never seen instructions before. Someone please help!

Okay maybe this will make my question a little clearer. I want to take the audio from the 4 pin connector on my MV-1
4pin.jpg

and wire it to these RCA stereo jacks.

How do I properly wire this? I know the 4 pin connector on my mobo outputs Left, Ground, Right and another ground. Is there a schematic, writeup or pictures... something to help me with this?

Thanks if you can help,
Bill

I'm probably wrong, but can't you just wire directly from the connector pins to the respective RCA jack and daisychain the ground to the proper pin?

I think you're making it more complex than it really is, or I'm just simplifying it too much.

go get an old cd-rom audio cable -- that's the same size as that connector. I know the two outer pins are signal and the two inner pins are ground, but I'm not sure which side is which. You can wire the ground to both connectors (the outside part of the RCA jacks) and the signal lines to the inner prt of each rca jack.

They have some cable for printers that have a perfect connector on one end. IMO, check the pinout and just wire them to the rca jacks. Start with the speaker sound all the way down and just SLOWLY turn it up to where you want it.

The sound coming from the 4 pin connector is not amplified? That is to say it's not meant to be hooked directly to the speakers? I'm not familiar with the 1 slots.

Bill, have you received the harness yet? Because I sent him a 6' harness (the length he asked) terminated with the official 4-pin connector:

http://img286.imageshack.us/img286/1586/speakerharness6feet5vk.jpg

So at least he doesn't need any of the ghetto solutions proposed here. And btw, cd-rom speaker connectors are NOT the same size as the pitch is 2.54mm while the official one is 2.5mm, also the plastic receptacle doesn't plug well into the MVS connector and the terminals are shaped differently thus not making optimal contact. They may work somehow but they certainly aren't "perfect".

Now Bill, it isn't exactly clear what you want to do: you said you want to wire the harness to RCA jacks and you posted a pic of panel-mount female RCA jacks but since you also said "how do I wire them to RCA connectors so I can use my television's speakers?", I take it you want to terminate the harness with male jacks that plug into the female jacks that are on your TV or stereo receiver. If this is correct, then you need to add jacks like these at the other end of the harness:

If you had told me exactly what you wanted when I asked you, I could have sent you a cable like this that connects the MVS board to your TV/stereoreceiver without further work:

In any case note that if you're hooking it up to the TV (or stereo receiver) you have to use the MVS headphone connector and not to the speaker connector as the latter is meant to be connected to unamplified speakers while the TV speakers are amplified. Basically if you hook it up to the TV through the speaker connector the sound will be very weak.

The part I was talking about looks just like that, but not as long and you just have to cut one end off yourself. Hardly ghetto. ANyways, Bill...listen to this guy, as he's helped me with sound problems plenty of times and it has always worked out really well.

The terminology that I used is incorrect in the above post. The female RCA connectors that are pictured are the ones that I am using. So from what I can tell, it seems I can just wire the Headphone pins to my female adapters.

MKL- I still haven't recieved the wire harness yet, should be in any day now.

I would take my cdrom speaker connector over the official any day. It's much easier to remove than one with a clip on it. I don't know what you mean about it being the incorrect size... it fits very well, and mine at least has a damn good sound quality to it... not that it'll matter much coming from tv speakers, but still.

I just found that the stereo connector using a cdrom cable also works perfectly for STV motherboards:D

For your information STV mobos use the same connectors as MVS mobos...

ok, well there you go... I hadn't really spent the time to compare them, but the knowledge is there now :)
