EGM reaches Number 200.

they do "The greatest 200 videogames of their time"

here are the NEO-GEO games

#194 - Nam-1975
#179 - Magician Lord
#128 - Samurai Shodown II

that's it !

IMHO Magician Lord and SSII should've been well within the top 100 ...... but EGM has sucked since the mid 1990s anyway, so who gives a f*** what they think....

Regardless, it's all opinion.

I could argue that Baseball Stars 2 is better than either Magician Lord or Nam-75. Hell, even KOF never made that list.

I doubt many members here would chose all three of those games as the best in their collection. Only SS2 would get the nod.

Top 200 Videogames of ALL TIME - I'm suprised that any Neo-Geo game made it...

But it would be terrible if EGM overlooked an entire library of games...

Im dissapointed that Metal Slug did not make the list. But they did get Samurai Shodown 2 on there. Thats one of the best 2D fighters ever.

didn't Samurai Shodown 1 get EGM's Game of the Year award for 1993?

and now it's not even on their list? (okay 2 is, and yes it's a better game, but still, the 1st had a much bigger impact)

oh well, who gives a shit.

I find it hard to believe that they wouldn't have at least one Metal Slug in their list, considering we know they aren't totally ignoring AES games. But knowing them, they would probably end up only giving MS4 a spot on the list if at all. This is why I don't pay for EGM anymore.

so what ended up being the top 3?
That's what I was wondering and been trying to find online.

Please tell me Zelda: Ocarina of Time made the top 3 ( if not #1 ).

Hmph, no Metal Slug? Is this the run 'n gun genre really not appreciated at all? I bet Contra is on the list.

I'd be interested to see what other 2d games are on it (any cps2 beat'em ups?).

I know it'll soon sound like a broken record, but no king of fighters, I'm sure there's a lame 3d fighters nice and close to the top.
Glad to see Samurai Shodown 2 on the list but I it should have been higher then that.
Though magician lord and nam-75, I don't know if they should really be on the list there both good games, but there aren't enough great games to fill 200 places?
anyone have the whole list?

KOF 94 should have been there as that BEAT Super street fighter 2 Turbo IN 94, REMEMBER THAT

lol...thats your opinion and I am sure there are more than a couple of us that would disagree with you on it.

I also agree with TonK at being surprised any Neo games made the list.

#3 was Street Fighter II (The World Warrior - Arcade - 1991)

#2 was Pac Man (Arcade - 1980)

#1 was Super Mario Bros. (NES - 1985)

original The Legend of Zelda (NES - 1987) was #5

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64 - 1998) was #8

I'd take Ms. Pacman over Pacman

but it's cool they didn't forget about Street Fighter . . . unlike Capcom

i have to0 agree with the sf2 ww part, it really was THE game that changed arcades for good. it was really revolutionarry. and ss2 was the only game in the egm top 10 in 94. it was ranked there in top 10 with gems like ff6 and shit. also the only fighting game that deserved a spot in the top 10 that year was ss2 IMO. nam1975 and magician lord??? they should have left these 2 out and put ms1 there along with ss2.

Yes Metal Slug would be more logical than either Magician Lord or Nam 75...

What was their criteria?

Makes a big difference.

The biggest/most important games of their time. Not all time. The list seems fine to me. I think Mario 64 should be higher. It's a huge task to undertake, and everyone will be pissed off at the list for whatever reason. I also think we must take into consideration that this is a US list, not a world list. Big difference.

well if that is the criteria than it makes sense that not very many neo games made it. I mean, no one at my school even knows what the neo geo is, IMO the neo may have made an impact when it came out but it has realy not stood the test of time. at least that has been my experience, around where i live there is no mvs's and certaintly not many fans of snk.
